This hardline leaving teh front steering rack from a 91 HICAS 240sx is crimped, heres the pic:

Nissan wants a riducluous $140 for this hardline.

what are my options?-junkyard(good luck to me for finding a hicas 240sx)-WTB thread(who teh hell has this part anyway)-some DIY ghettoness(a rubber hose? but better or some custom tube)-aftermarket hardlines?

i wanna fix this and keep the HICAS steering rack, i read somewhere on here that it provides better handling than a non HICAS steering rack.

please help me out here, this is such an obscure pita issue it makes me

Pull the hard line and bring it in to your local autoparts store, they should have a selection of hard lines in different sizes and lengths. Find the right length and the right fittings and buy them. If you do not have a brake line bender and flaring tool, you will want to rent/buy these while at the autoparts store as well. Take your loot home, bend the new line to match the old one, put the fittings on, crimp it, install it, then celebrate your own awsomeness.

I recently crimped one of these lines myself while installing the engine/transmission.

None of the parts store in my area had any line in this size with metric ends on it.

If you run into this problem in your area, you'll have to buy a slightly longer steel line than you need....cut the ends off and remove the fittings....then cut your crimped line and put your fittings onto the new line you just bought and then reflare the ends.

I've apparently never had a good flaring tool and as such, have never had any luck getting a good seal with my flare jobs.

The NAPA store in my area did all the work for me for the cost of the new line which I bought from them.
