Hows it going, just got 2 questions.

Question 1:

Greddy makes turbo kits that run in the thousands as everyone knows. Though on ebay, there are kits with intercoolers, the whole package for under $600. Can these compare? Are they worth it? Reliable as for a daily driver also for the drift track? Just as much horse power? Will it break the car down?

Here is the link: http://search.ebay.com/search/...lsot2=

Question 2:

Can one even install a turbo kit and intercooler, etc, onto a Ka24de or Ka24e? Or do you need the Ka24det from the factory? I would like to install a turbo kit, but would I be better off doing an engine swap for a ka24det, or just add turbo onto my ka24de?

Thanks so much!

i cant answer question one for you but i can answer question 2.

yes you can install a turbo kit on a ka-e and ka-de. you might of missed the Ka-T thread forum but anyway go there and you will get more info on how to install a turbo and what to buy and fabricate. also there is no such thing as a stock ka24det. plus check out the sponsors and what not. they have some kits available for the ka24de.

First i will answer ? number 2. the 240sx only came with a ka24e or ka24de. the ka24det is a term developed by people who have been putting on aftermarket turbochargers.

as far as your first question, you get what you pay for. the ebay kit will boost your car and depending on mostly on luck and how conservative you are with the system it could last you for a while. one benefit of the greddy kit is you receive pre-programmed tuning to get you started and upgraded injectors, where as the ebay kit you will have to figure that part out on your own. you are also getting more durable and trustworthy products, and you won't have fitment issues.

I used to have a 1993 240SX but I sold it due to money issues. Soon though I will be getting another one and was kinda curious on turbo's. Ive done alot of researching and it came down to 3 good turbo makers...Greddy, Turbonetics, and Garret. All 3 makers will cost a pretty penny but does anyone have any experience/knowledge with them or which one is better?

^I think they are all good brands, but you should head over to the KA-T section and see if you find anyone with turbos by those companies. I think with those brands, its more about finding the right sized turbo for your goals.

turbo kits from ebay are not the real deal unless they sayso dont go for themas for going to get 300hp on an automatic 240.... you cant, unless you want to buy new transmissions for the rest of your lifeengine swap compared to a turbo installation? turbo install is probably much easier don't you think?

funny that running 300hp through the auto transmission would make it so you have to keep buying another one....??? I haven't heard of any issues with the auto trannies. I know 2 people personally who've had over 300whp on an auto in their 240 with no problems. I'd bet most other people on here would say the same. You're definitely better off with a manual to take full advantage of the extra power, but to simply say the auto transmission is weak is ignorant. ANY transmission can **** the bed if you don't know what you're doing. The only weak point I can see in an auto transmission is the heat build-up. Of course you should get a transmission cooler for any kind of reliability, just as you would get a stronger clutch when you add more power, or a bigger intercooler or radiator. If someone puts more than twice the hp of stock through any stock transmission, not investing in a $50 transmission cooler is just kinda stupid and asking for problems.

Those turbos could come from anywhere, it's not like someone can jsut piece one together with bubblegum.. Now that doesn't mean they are great quality, but.... it might work for you... I always say when you plan on putting money into your car, you get what you pay for...

Well first of all I have an Associates Degree in Auto Tech, I have certifications in Paint & body work, welding, and basic repair, I have an Associates Intelligence Operations Degree in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Operation, I am currently working on my Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering. I've worked for Advanced Auto(in HS) and Burdick Nissan Dealership, I have 2 years in the Army in both Aviation and Military Intelligence. I'm currently stuck here in this hell hole called Sierra Vista, AZ going to college for free, to edumicate myself more, and I'm making about the same amount of money off the Government's GI Bill and Kicker per month for just going to school as you are working full time. I work part time temporarily for Homeland Security. I also make money selling parts for 240's occasionally and currently hold an online job that I earn money at my own pace, tho I won't divulge my current income, I'll say I'm not hurting for money. I've owned 3 240's. How can you say my 240 looks like junk when you've never seen it....buuut good assumption lol because it does hahaha. I'm fine with that because I'm going for performance before looks. I'm sorry, but I have 5 more years of experience than you in this area. Look at my posting track record and for the most part I know what I'm talking about when I talk, if I don't I won't say I do. For your 1st, 2nd, AND 3rd post, you're sure doing a great job of adding a wealth of information to these forums...If people like you were the only ones on the forums there wouldn't be as much info and resources about 240's and other nissans at your fingertips. Please, before you make posts like these, browse the forums, use the Search button, and try to make sure your info is as accurate as possible before you post. When I was 17 i had lots of misconceptions about cars/parts/life...you'll gradually grow out of it.
