I haven't really been keeping up with this thread...so I dunno where things are going. But I wanted to voice my personal opinion on one thing.

If you're going to upgrade AT SOME POINT...don't waste you're money with a cheap setup to start with. If you want to make GOOD POWER at some point then get a T3+ sized turbo.

Never settle...ever. If you have a limited budget, beg borrow and steal information on how to do things correct but keeping within a certain budget. It's not nearly as hard to do things right as people make it out to be. The money saved by doing it right the first time is HUGE.

There are two turbo's for people on a budget that may SOMETIME want more. Even if you're not sure...trust me...you'll want more within 6 months.

T3/TO4E in 50 or 57 trim compressor and a .48 AR or .63 AR exhaust housing. I used to separate trims for the compressor as both work fine and it really depends on what trim is available for the price you're looking for AT THAT TIME. The .48AR and .63AR are the two most popular AR sizes available today in the hybrid turbo. The .48 is going to make good power right up to 400ish. The .63 will do 450 and get you close to 500 depending on wastegate size and tuning. But lets just use 450whp as a max assuming you're octane limited anyway.

I know the SSAC bottom mount manifold is basically free on EBay guys...but it simply isn't the way to go if you're EVER looking to make more power.

You can always get a new 50trim from phoenixturbo.com for about $600. That is what I recommend.

ill go with internals first. then finish up my wheel/suspension setup for the time being. then i can start buying stuff for the setup ive been WANTING. and itll all be super sweet the first time without having to waste a bunch of money on little stuff to "tie me over" or whatever.

sounds good.

ALRIGHT, continuing with what i said in my last post, im getting internals.

i need some opinions from the ka-t gurus.

and since this new subtopic is still Ka-t related, and involving another possible purchase, i'll just continue instead of making another thread.

____

at first i was looking at CP pistons and Crower rods, then i started lookin' at CP pistons and Eagle rods. read some stuff about Eagle and AMS being very similar.

then i started reading more about AMS stuff, and how its really good and everything, so i priced out how much itd be for Arias pistons and AMS rods, along with other goodies that theyve got.

__

overall, im not sure which combo would be best overall. i know that Eagle is big with shorter stroke motors like v8s and civics and stuff, but ive also heard stuff about them being unreliably made, or just being unreliable in general. a lot of mixed reviews.

so i need some insight from those of you with experience.

and also, would 8.8:1 compression ratio be alright for my KA in the meantime before i go boost? i dont know if thats like, really low compression for not having forced induction.

If your looking for a block bored out and hot tanked, with CP pistons, eagle rods, new bearings, new freeze plugs, and some other things let me know...Sure it would need to be shipped, but my buddy decided against finishing his project due to his busy weeks with work.

I'm sure the price would beat you doing everything from scratch. Everything's brand new. If I had the money I would buy it from him myself.

find out a price, shipped. 25064.

that might be a decent idea. but we'll see after i get that price, ya'dig.

thanks for the headsup.

and actually, you can just email me at [email protected] if you get any information from him about shipping and price and stuff._________________________________________________________

ABOVE POST STILL STANDS.

I NEED ADVICE ABOUT THAT STUFF.

at the moment ive got 1045 in the bank.

itll cost 1146 and change including shipping to get Calico coated main and rod bearings, ARP main studs, sportsman rods and Arias 89.5mm pistons.

its only 50 less for the other setup for the crower rods and CP pistons, probably about the same with the Eagle rods and cp pistons. estimated.

I'll go over to his place tomorrow and have a chat with him about it.He has well over 1500 iirc into it including the block, machining, and parts, however obviously that would not be the price.

I'll get dimensions and **** so I can find a way to get a accurate shipping quote, and will get back to you with pictures and a quote asap.

Depends on how much you want!

He has an entire motor disassembled in his garage.

I was just assuming that you already had a motor that you were building and just the block would save you on shipping

But he has all the stock components and bolts in bags labeled.
