I wanted to go big brake kit on my 07 sedan, instead of spending 1700+ dollars on the ap racing...i was wondering if any of you guys had experience of possibly fiting the brembo calipers and rotors from a 03-04 g coupe or 350z? Or even the brembo calipers from the 03-05 spec-v sentras? or possible fitment for any other vehicle that has a performance brake kit from the dealer? Thanks for your time.

i was not 100% sure that the rears fit but i guess we can verify by part numbers, i know the front kits, the part number varies from the g35/z configuration towards our 07-08 3.5 se's.... i did notice that the 02-06 altima's had the same part numbers as the z's and g's, i guess the 07-08 configuration is different from the third gen's making the brakes incompatible.... errr, i wonder if the evo8/9 and/or wrx sti brembos will fit... thanks for the insight altimatum, anymore input about a possible BBK?

Their isn't to much of a point in going in a big brake kit. Get some better brake pads and rotors.

why not? i would much rather have 4 or 6 pistons clamping down the pads than just 1, which is what the altima comes stock with.

oh btw, whats up 07wHiTE 3.5SE 6sPD (DEV). this is andrew, kevins cuz!

Can you lock the wheels at high speeds with the stock brakes? Yes, you can. Getting stronger brakes will not slow you down any faster. Getting better tires will.

Stronger brakes are meant for racing applications where the brakes are repeatedly abused and overheated. the bigger your brakes and the more pistons you are clamping them with, the more reliable your braking system will be in those excruciating situations.

i know tires are the key to bringing your car to a hault, if you have ****ty tires then good luck. and not all bbk are strictly meant for racing, you can also use them on the street, the compound of the brake pad and also the type of rotors will determine that. also if your car is making some good power i wouldnt rely on the stock brakes to stop the car all that well, whereas if you had a bbk i would feel very confident in my brakes.

and btw ABS systems are designed to keep the wheels from locking up, but im sure you know that. im not saying that it wont lock up at all, there will be locking up, but it will be intermittent which is normal because the tires need to get grip and then the car will stop, whereas in cars with no ABS the wheels will lock up and the car will just keep sliding...but once again, im sure you know that!

i can assure you that you are wrong, and you kind of contradicted yourself although it might not be that obvious. stronger brakes will slow you down faster than stock brakes, even with the same tires.

take the 350z/G35 for example. both those cars had options for upgrading the stock brakes to the all around brembo package, and guess what...they did stop better with the brembos, with the same tires.

brake force and tires do go hand in hand though. if you have upgraded brakes, but crap tires then you will notice slight increase in the stopping power, but not much, and vice versa. but then if you match the upgraded brakes along with a really good tire, the difference in stopping power between stock and upgraded would be night and day, and im sure you can agree with me.

.

I have a 2.5 and at 70 mph my brakes locked up on me (no ABS) I was avoiding t-boning some idiot who didnt look when crossing the intersection. anyways, i went sliding a great distance and went over a relatively high curb and ent up next to a tree.....this is why i want a big brake kit....

you should do as 600hppot said, and upgrade your tires first. not having abs kind of sucks, but dont just upgrade the brakes, upgrade the tires as well.

Well, if you say so. But you gotta admit that the average joe will never REALLY need those huge brakes. They'd be mostly for show. If you've got ABS, and you drive like a normal person (and by that I mean you don't go 50+ mph over the speed limit), any modern stock car will do its job and do it well. But then we all know that.

Edit: While we're on the subject of brakes and tires... Max, have you ever used this product http://www.duragloss.com/product.asp?pid=332

I stumbled upon it one day, read about it a little. It has won a few awards, so I know it's more or less legit, but i'm still a bit skeptical.

the stock brakes in my car have about 30% life left. I plan on a single turbo setup in the future and i would rather upgrade to a BBK instead of buying rotors and pads which serves no purpose on 400+ whp vehicles. The oem setup heats up excessively quick.....

eyyy whats up andrew... hows the car? yuh probably got like 84779193821 miles on it, and you got yours after mine, jeez... lol, what yuh did to it? i know yuh had a ton of stuff on yuh max, i cant wait fuh some coilovers... we go link... later

okay guys... i found some info out..... the akebono kit from the 08 g37sport will fit our vehicles... if you guys wanted to fit them you will need 19" wheels cause of the 14" rotors and huge calipers.... to confirm my theory of fitment jus look up the ap racing 4 psiton part number for the 07-08 g35 and 08 g37... the part numbers are identical to 07-08 altima part numbers, meaning they can bolt up.... heres a link to the brake forum on the g35 website....http://g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=208735

SUCCESS!!!! Rotors slide right in.... calipers bolt right up.... i had gotten new dust covers, brakes lines, brake line brackets... new bolts everything.... the only thing i needed for the install were the calipers, pads, rotors..... the oem rubber lines were reused... oem banjo brake fluid bolt for the caliper(was a little too long for the 4 piston g37 bbk... used washers and new brake crush washers... will take pictures) they fit... thats all i can say... given you have 19" wheels.... if you were to buy em... you would need the calipers, rotors, and brake pads.... everything else were not used... some 3/8" washers... and the lock pins for the top of the pad fasteners....brakes feel nice... will give a better review after they are broken in....thanks for all the support guys.

How much you paid for all that, and did you buy from the g35 forum, or ebay?

That looks so friggin sweet. What did you do with the headlights? Throw them in the oven to loosen the sealant? And do the turn signals still reflect? It looks like you took away the orange so they have nothing to bounce off of.
