Ouch, that's harsh. I read the article. The article is actually about the impact of a federal heating assistance program for low income folks after it's budget suddenly got cut. It's not an unusual story.

She's poor, but was working without assistance until she lost her job a year ago, Although she recently got another job, her unemployment did not cover all her basic expenses, so some bills piled up quickly. It did not sound like she was living an extravagant lifestyle. The TV and Xbox pictured could easily be old, worth little, plus she might have young kids, so I could understand her trying to hold onto them.

She was among many low income people that waited hours in line for an advertised winter heating bill assistance (funded by a federal grant) only to be turned away. She and others were not aware the grant's federal funding was cut by 44%, and were too far back in line to get the assistance.

It wasn't a case of her actively complaining, nor her demanding the assistance, and she was not abusing the system. She was simply being interviewed by a reporter who was inquiring what was going on. Personally I feel bad for her.

This is the sob story of every black in Macon/Warner Robins.

First of all, most of them are on disability. Meaning, they are driving brand new cars, and they all carry EBT cards. None of them work in Macon. They all sell drugs. Crime rates are through the roof. Theirs a damn shooting every 4-6 minutes there. If you're white, and near the projects, you're dead. I remember my pizza delivery days, with a few guys that worked in Macon, that went to the projects, that almost got shot/robbed on a frequent occasion.

Typical s***. I'm tired of paying taxes. Theirs no jobs in middle Georgia, and further south. No one wants to build s***, because they only hire blacks, and the blacks steal and don't do the work. And the whites are only in 1 area. There are jobs in Warner Robins. And there are some fine a** white girls, but that doesn't help.

Im so done with seeing this. Its the same thing all the time. Can't these people learn to work, they have the same rights I do. It makes so much more sense to "try" instead of being dragged along.

I guess they have no meaning to life. Instead of help me, i can't pay my electric bill line, maybe the should stand in help me, i don't give no 2 s*** about my life, kill me now line.

Lazy people who depend on the governemt are the reason that people like me (legit medical problem and cant get insurance) cant get on government funded insurance.

I was told that I didnt qualify for tenncare BUT if I was new citizen (aka foreign) or was low income (you cant get any lower than no job) that I would qualify for tenncare....WTF?

Im sick and tired of seeing people at stores that have no visible disability pull up and park in a handicap spot, while driving a $80,000+ benz. Or when I see a group of people shopping (more than 8 adults) pulling along 3 buggies, all crammed full of junk. And then one person whips out an EBT card and pays for 3-4 families groceries.

Another thing that uber pisses me off. No joke I have seen a newer model CLS AMG at DHS (when I was applying for tenncare). This young dude gets out of the driver seat (no problem), pops the trunk and pulls out a cane) and walks FINE to the door. He steps in the building and starts limping with his cane. Walks to the window and asks why he hadnt got his unemployment or disability check. I was like WTF?!?!

A 40" lcd is worth 350 to 400 used. BAM -- heating bills covered for the season. If you go clean toilets instead of watching HBO you'll save on electricity AND earn income.

When I was poor I ate dirt and had two crappy jobs. (I also lost a ton of weight... Nice bonus!). I watched Law and Order in the evenings while I did homework thanks to a 20 year old 12" tv and a pair of rabbit ears. I slept on a hard box spring and shivered at night.

Four hours working at minimum wage instead of waiting four hours in line for a handout would have helped pay some of her f***ing bills.

I think this is a good example, and unfortunately for most of these types of people all this free lunch stuff is coming to end and quick. Major US cites are going bankrupt including my hometown of Chicago, and even New York. We just can't pay for ghettos anymore, we can't pay for people who never contribute anymore. These large cities are going to become huge ghetto's, or super rich getawys, or ghost towns. But the middle class is not going to be able to carry these taxes for much longer.

I work in hospital which covers people with little to no insurance. I was doing a test on a woman who was a very able person. She didn't work, was single, and had 6 kids. After talking to her I found out that each of her 6 kids had cell phones. And at least 4 of whom were middle high school or younger. So who's fitting these cell phone bills?

Listen some people need it. But now its gotten to the point where working people can no longer cover not just free loaders but the legitimately sick and disabled. And those are the people who going to get screwed. It's a sad situation that is coming to a very ugly head on the next 2-5 years for most major cities. Our budget is collapsing in Chicago. It really scary because how long is it going to be before most small business are taxed to death? That property taxes will be a second mortgage? It a snowball effect that is destroying our country one city at a time.

Alright lets back up.

I lived in it. Seen it every day, and watched it become worse and worse, to the point jobs were leaving the town because of the workers, not working, mooching, and doing other countless deeds. Now, my father is disabled due to the position he had in the army, he is also retired.

I watch a person make 500 a week, and collect EBT food stamps. Smoke weed, and buy a 1000 dollar or less car every 6 months. Not my dad, a person I know.

Small business's are the heart of this country. And unless you are expanding your small business, you cannot get a loan even if you just moved into 2 or more new locations. Obama has screwed it completely. Now, yes, a lot of business's are phasing out, making a great path for those that are coming up through this recession. They are talking about the debts we are going to pay back will be on the birth of our children within the last 2 years. With all the mooching, and the country broker then broke, we are rationalizing. There will be some tough decision's to come, and I believe we have not even seen the half.

So who cares if people have to starve, have no drinking water, or can't keep the lights on? Yes we care about those people American citizens or not, but holy crap, when small business's can't get a loan, who run the country (we all know corporations were once small business's), this country will surely see much worse. Jobs if you haven't got it.

And i don't care what color you are, you are a human being, get off your a** and help.
