My only real grip with the 2018 rogue and soon to find out on the 2021 are the hankook tires. At 40k the rogue is pretty much in need of new shoes. I rotated every 5k and kept the psi at 33lbs religiously. My 09 came with continentals and lasted to 65k and still had some life.
Yep, I sure wish they'd ditch the Hankooks. Good grip, but noisy and fast-wearing. You're not the only one who hates 'em.

I wouldn’t call the hankooks noisy, at least not on the rogue. Just fast wearing for sure. Even rotated the tires pull ever so slightly and that’s with a perfect alignment.

My dealer has a program that if you service the cvt every 30 then they’ll extend the factory warranty to 120k so why not.
How cool is that!!

Maybe.
First gen has been OK to my family except that the occupancy sensor in the passenger seat went bad and there seems to be no way to replace that without replacing the seat which is just stupid.
The AC condenser also went bad but after a hundred thousand miles that's just something that'll happen I guess.

I actually like the way the transmission behaves.

The rear camera screen is useless except in the dark. It's far too dim.

And now if I could just get those poor fuel economy pinned down I'd be reasonably happy

I had an 05 civic hybrid. When somebody hit it and insurance said they wanted to buy it, I was actually happy.
Agree Honda just relied on their name and rep and shove out a tard for that generation

You can predict where Nissan is going after CEO's arrest (cost killer). I visit car junkyards very often. I see lot of Altimas, Maximas, Versas and couple of Rogues, Muranos, but no Highlanders, 4Runners, Camry's or never ever Rav4s ... why? Simple ....one answer ...CVT killed reputation forever...... The only hope is now EVs

Yes. I bought a '21 Rogue SV 2 months ago and pick up a '22 Rogue SV tomorrow. They are twins except for the 2.5 vs 1.5 3cyl turbo, both are silver/charcoal.

Here's my 2 cents. And between my brother and me, we were huge Nissan fans having owned Nissan trucks, a few cars including a twin turbo Z, and even a Rogue Select (the ones assembled in Japan so I like it).

I noticed that my 2006 Frontier Truck had lots and lots of made in Japan parts. The Hitachi alternator, much of the small but important components like the slave cylinder for the manual transmission, the brake lines were well made I think by Hitachi. It even came with the BEST heavy duty brake pads I've ever owned. They were Hitachi made in japan brake pads and they lasted an incredible 75,000 miles before I decided to changed them due to age.

But then Renault, the French company purchased part of Nissan and the use of Japanese parts seemed to be immediately jettisoned as soon as Renault came into the picture.
The only Japanese part I have found on my wifes 2015 Rogue Select that was assembled in Kyushu Japan mind you, is a damn brake switch. That's literally the only damn Japanese part I've found so far. Why do I know this? Because it failed way too early. Hopefully the 4banger engine was assembled or made there at least?

Guess what failed on the 2015 Rogue Select that I never had failed before on my other Nissans? The made in France Valeo alternator that came in my wifes Rogue Select failed at a ridiculous 50,000 miles. I would always get 160,000 or so miles out of my made in Japan alternators. So even though Nissan assembled the Rogue Select in Kyushu Japan, Renault insisted it had the crappy French Valeo alternators in it! I didn't get a good Panasonic Japanese battery with the car either. It came with a crappy made in Mexico battery. (To be fair, I think Toyota does the same damn thing with the made in Japan 4runners that cost 50,0000 dollars). You used to get a made in japan battery with imported Nissans and even Toyota stopped doing that to be fair. Japanese car batteries seem to last like 7 to 10 years where of course the American owned battery factories that are in Mexico only build them to last 4 years.

Now I know what the Nissan fan boys are going to say: All the companies are leaving Japan for their manufacturing of parts. Yes and No. My Toyota Tacoma made in 2022 does have a lot of parts that were not made in Japan. BUT>>>>>>> The japanese companies like Hitachi that makes the shocks or Denso that makes the electronics keep their high Japanese factory standards as much as possible when they build factories in Mexico. So we are getting pretty much the same parts from Hitachi or Denso if they build and manage a factory in my opinion.

But Valeo, a French company building an alternator and then Nissan agreeing to put that in their cars?

I'm done buying Nissans made after 2008 or 2010.

I hope you don't think Denso and Hitachi still manufacture most of their stuff in Japan. If it can be assembled by robots, sure. Everything else is from China, India, Maylasia, etc. Denso even has a China partner, Hanshin, who makes all their coils. It's no different with Calsonic and Alps, most of their stuff is assembled in Mexico with China electronics. Worse yet, you never have any idea where the component parts inside the part came from. That's the global economy, and yah... like it or not, these days, everybody does it.

Yes but I believe when Hitachi built their plant in Mexico, or when Toyota, Denso, K.Y.B. and other famous Japanese companies build plants in Indonesia, Mexico, etc....they build the plants and the process to their standards. Time will tell though. Ask me again in 10 years as my 2022 Tacoma will be the perfect candidate to see if the Denso and Hitachi plants in Mexico built the parts similar in quality to Japan. I may be wrong. But the point is this...... Japanese owned companies care about quality wherever they build it. French or American companies do not care about quality. But you are correct that the factories are all over now.

I would much much much rather have a Hitachi or Denso product that was made in Mexico than a Valeo French owned made part.

By the way, I just put brand new made in Japan Denso TPMS sensors in the tires because they have 10 year batteries in them. (I think the rest are only 8 year batteries).
Japan for the win.

I'll go along with that. Still doesn't explain why Nissan can't seem to make a decent brake pedal switch even in Japan, but c'est la vie. Maybe the contact material is Chinese.

Kick a** deal? Are you in America? If so, must not be the new Z. Australian dealers are selling the new Z close to MSRP when they got it like a year ago and now that USA has them, the greedy dealers want like 70,000 dollars.

Palmer bought an Armada, not a Z. He is in the US, and thanks to the high gas prices from our sick a** politics here, chances are he really did get a kick a** deal on a full-sized SUV. Our dealership is discounting them too. Meanwhile, we can't keep sedans and small SUV's on the lot. Those all sell at a premium.

I swore I wouldn't but just did LOL. I have come to accept my closest local Service Department simply sucks and shouldn't totally skew my attitude. Good experience with other dealerships. Just bought a new Rogue SL AWD last week and if I ever have issues I know exactly where NOT to bring it.

Nah I'm out- had 5 Nissan's with my 2008 Rogue limping into 300k (3 CVTS). When it dies I'm going Toyota. First Nissan was a '92 Stanza, 2002 Maxima SE, 2005 Pathfinder SE, 2008 Rogue SL AWD, 2017.5 Rogue SL AWD.

I had many different Nissans. All but 1999 Maxima were a so-so cars. Great mechanically (well I had them leased for 3 years so don't know how would it be later on), but in terms of performance like handling, road holding, acceleration, etc., they are not something to write home about. Maybe it's all typical for all 4-cyl cars.

Not sure.

I've owned several, but the fact they won't repair a software issue which is incredibly dangerous without me spending a huge amount of money is just crazy. I can't download the software using the infotainment system because it wasn't properly set up so the version shows XXXX. I can't download the software from Nissan to do it myself even though it is basically plugging in a USB drive with the car running and letting it update. The dealer wants $206 for diagnostic plus $250 for updating the software.

I'm bypassing it by using the Android auto feature now and I haven't had the issue on that.

I can't say I wouldn't buy another Nissan but I can say that I won't buy another vehicle, especially a Nissan with a CVT! I don't like the trucks or the stupid little vans. My current status only allows for small to mid size cars and SUV/cuv market. I like my Rogue 1st Gen as far as driveability but the total nightmare that's pretty much ruined my life with the CVT has me very soured to them and I've heard of VCR engine issues and glass blowing out the lift gate so those are out. I looked at one of the rock Creek ones and liked it but no way. Now as far as buying another Nissan. If I could afford it I'd love to own a gtr or any Skyline for that matter as well as a few z cars, 240, 260, 280, 300ZX, 370, etc. yes I skipped the 350z, don't like em, but I'd also own a 240SX but I'm all set with any new or newer models especially with CVT.

Not right now. We have a '23 Z, but there's nothing else in their lineup that someone else doesn't build better.

Nissan turned their back on all the support and cheerleading we do several years ago, just because we wouldn't toe the company line. We're not a big deal, but it speaks volumes about how they reward loyalty and treat those who dare to critique their work.

Honestly our 2015 Rogue SL has been one of the most reliable vehicles I've ever owned. We bought in new in Oct 2014, it has over 130,000 miles on it and the only non-maintenance item we had to replace was a MAF sensor a few years back. I've done all the maintenance myself. I've drained and filled the CVT fluid 3 times (it's due again shortly). Drained and filled the diff fluids 2x. Replace brakes at 100,000 miles. Fluids and filters, nothing more.

Having stated all that, our next purchase won't be a Nissan. You can't convince me that t he new ones are anywhere near as good as this 2015 is/was. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's not a risk I'm willing to take.
