I have a dilemna, I am Midnight Motorsports at http://www.midnight-motorsports.net

Well, I have come to find out there is another Midnight Motorsports in Mississippi at http://www.midnightmotorsports.net

My dilemna is if someone forgets the dash ( and this has happened to numerous people ) then they end up at a competitors website with horrible prices and who's close enough for people to get confused and leave. This equates to me losing business because of them.

I need to know what to do and I have several options, please take the time to vote as its up to you guys what I do.

1) Stay Midnight Motorsports AND stay at http://www.midnight-motorsports.net - basically saying screw them and taking the chance of losing business.

2) Stay Midnight Motorsports AND move to http://www.midnight-racing.net - I also own that domain, but I don't want there to be confusion over my companies name versus my web site name.

3) Change to Midnight Racing AND move to http://www.midnight-racing.net - Completely change everything and move, although I don't like the name Midnight Racing nearly as much as Midnight Motorsports.

So what should I do? I would prefer to move to http://www.midnight-racing.net AND stay named Midnight Motorsports, that way I get the cool name and I avoid confusion with the other Midnight. However, I see the downfall of this as having a website thats different from my name, and it could cause confusion. With a website the same as my name, people can be like yeah, Midnight Motorsports and its easier to remember the website. If people say Midnight Motorsports @ http://www.midnight-racing.net I think it might confuse people or they'll forget the website. That, or I'm totally off and people will just refer to me as Midnight, and even though I'm named Motorsports I'd be Midnight @ http://www.midnight-racing.net

Well, let me know your opinions as its very important to me. Please take the time to vote and give me your thoughts, you guys control what direction this goes in now. Thank you very much!!!What should I do?

The only logical way to handle this is to completely change your name.

Only changing your web address will cause confusion due to your name not being the same as your website.

Not changing at all will cause confusion with the other business.

Completely change your name to either Midnight Racing, or another far out name. *Hint* Afterdark Autosports :) hehe

Have hackers take down their site and link it to yours, then go blow up their shop!!!

I offered to buy their domain as they don't appear to be doing much business, but they haven't responded. I sent it to their sales email, so either they a) didn't feel like giving me the time of day b) suck so much they don't even respond to their sales email or c) they don't exist anymore and the site is just sitting there.

Since they didn't respond to an email sent to their sales department, i don't know what to do about clearing them out. I'd go bust up their shop and make it look like a robbery, but I think they're an internet only company. : (

Dauntless, Midnight-Racing is an existing club in Houston, TX.http://www.midnight-racing.zzn.com

We're about to buy Midnight-Racing.org as well.

Just FYI :)

I would probably give the other Midnight Motorsports a call. Their owner information is available through netsol, and should contain a phone number and/or billing address.

Heh, well I'll sell you the .net if you want it and I can find a solution. : )

How would I go about contacting netsol for their billing address?

Thanks!

Oh, also, I wouldn't care if there was a http://www.midnight-racing.org - because you wouldn't be a competitor and people would realize we are different companies. If someone has never talked to me before and just heads off to my website and they see theirs instead, thats what I"m worried about. : ) If theres a club there instead of a shop, they'll realize they were wrong, if theres a shop there and it sucks, they'll never go back. : )

Stay with http://www.midnight-motorsports.net. When people don't know where to look for a website, you need to keep your web addy as similiar to the name of your shop as possible. Keep in mind also, that they'll see the horrible prices and may realize that they found the wrong website. If that ever happens to me, I go to yahoo, and search. Then they'll say "Oooooh, its got the dash. Silly Daunttless!"

hehe, Nick.

If you like your exsisting name, keep it and change the address...people aren't THAT stupid (well some are), but there is a shop by me called Wired Electronics, and the website is RadicalPerformance...they do ok, just make you got some business cards or whatever...

I like Midnight Motorsports better than Midnight Racing.

Afterdark sounds cool because it has similar meaning to Midnight, ie both are night-time words haha. And since most street racing, drifting, illegal stuff, etc. doesn't start untill "after dark," I think that name suits just fine.

What you should do is change your website to http://www.midnight-racing.net and keep your company name same and add the racing at the end of the title. So your company name would be Midnight Motorsports & Racing. You really don't want to change your company name, but adding to it is acceptable. As far as your website goes, that can be changed with limited complications. You own both sites, so you can easily leave a message at your old site (http://www.midnight-motorsports.net ) stating that you have changed your domain name and leave a link to your new site. What do you think?

Hey Daunt,

Where is your shop going to be located? State and Town? Are you strictly going to deal with installation or reselling as well?

Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

We will carry a full line of performance parts for ( hopefully I can get the whole list in one try : ) 240SX, 300ZX, 350Z, Probably Sentra, maybe some Infiniti, RX-7 FC and FD, 3000GT/Stealth, Eclipse, Supra, MR2, Celica All-trac, and maybe eventually I'll get stuff for FWD cars but probably not. : )

We will also be selling custom turbo setups, engines, conversions, any Japanese part you want really.

We'll have an inhouse Dyno with Wideband.

We'll do installations, performance tuning, build engines, do turbo setups, and general work on high performance vehicles, no oil changes, etc.

Hmm, I think thats about it. : )

if i convince my grams daunttless you'd have a chance to swap whatever 4g6 engine variant i convince her and tune that badboy up. then you say "yeah we do hyundais too" . then everyone will be like "wtf this guys a tuning genius how the hell did he fit an evo 6 engine in there?" and they wont know that is direct bolt in. this will lead to massive ammount of exposure and then eventually the daunttless-shop-name-here line of performance parts and then his own cars. this will have to make them give you your title as god. if they keep you a** a deity just say i want 500 virgins a month or your fired. i dont think this post was supposed to make sense after the 2nd sentence just to get my posts higher and whee im kinda doing it.

Hey Daunttless. I love the name Midnight Motorsports. Problem is that someone beat you to it. With that being the case you have to determine wether or not the Internet is going to be a main source of income.

If so then you MUST change your name. I know it hurts, but you need the two to match and you don't want to be associated with that other shop. The only other solution is to offer them some money for their domain. If there business is strong they won't sell. If it isn't then you might get it for $1000 or so.

As for another name, it will come to you once you've separated yourself from the current one. It's a mental thing. Nothing will sound good until you've done that.

Good luck man. Either way I can't wait to do business with you. Later!
