Skyline's and Supra's shouldn't be compared to 240's at all in their ability to put power to the ground. The GTR has AWD helping it to distrubute the power and torque. The Supra is RWD like the 240, but it's chassis is much heavier, like a Skyline. Their chassis are engineered to handle big power and put it to the ground. 240's... not so much.

I'm not sure what the fastest car you've ever driven has been, but I recommend going out and test driving a newer car that has ~300hp. Like a BMW 135i for example. I think you'll find that that is plenty fast. And then realize that a 240 is probably at least 500 lbs lighter than whatever you just drove. And does not have traction control.

If that doesn't help you at all... just try asking around for input on building a 1000hp RB powered 240sx. Just be sure to wear a flamesuit.

I'm not saying an RB26 swap is a bad idea, but you really should reconsider your power goals.
Oh crap your right it is VQ37VHR Im sorry.

I know the gtr is awd but i want an rb25det trans from a gtst whicj is rear wheel drive. and i know the 240 is a lighter vehicle but thats why i want high hp stupid fast but truthfully ill probably only make it roughly 700 to the wheels.

Yes, me too. I became interested in this powerplant when I read simmode's initial thread. I am seriously considering this for my s13 hatch, but I have a lot of research to do in the meantime.
I got a sparco diaper ready to go!!! Idk i need to advance my research on said motor before i try to fit one in a 240

Research research research. So that when you get your money right, you know exactly what you want/need to spend it on and not wastefully.

I examined all the popular options very carefully: SR, KA-T/KA-R, RB, VG, CA, LSx, VH and 1JZ/2JZ. In the end, VQ's made the most sense to me for a balanced build and I can back up my opinion with facts and figures. Choosing a motor to swap is a very personal decision. But the more info you have the more informed of a decision you can make.

Thanks, Diggles.

Sidenote: This thread is sooo off topic now. I wish someone else would come in and post some more sexy Zenki pics.

That's a much better power goal. I think the highest HP RB swapped street 240 on these boards has like 600hp. I could be wrong though.

As far as 'Fitting' these motors into a 240, it may help to compare engine bays with both swaps:RB26 doesn't have alot of space between the motor and raditor.

VQ has enough space to run all manner of intercooler setups, like a V-mount.

The further your motor sticks out past your strut towers, the worse your handling will be. And lets not forget how much lighter the VQ is compared to the RB...

^^^ That last one is local to me! That's Duron's Zenki with a BADASS KA-T in it...

KA-R = Supercharged Ka. A guy local to me did this. It's badass.

Mm-hmmm! Yessir. That one sexy Zenki, ChampaignSilviaS14.

Found this for you while I was looking for s14 engine bays with RB26's in them...zer...age=1

They aimed for 900hp, RB26 blew up around 650hp. Motor was rebuilt, but the car was sold before a dyno was posted. Probably making no where near the 650 it was making. I have no idea how streetable this car was. Looks like a magazine whore.

Hope you got $35k lying around, Juggalo...

I aplaud you in your points now let me in on some info why me deciding to do this is a very good idea again. You can let me know on your vq30det thread! KA-R is stupid! Tell your buddy i like his ka-t powered zenki!

I'm not in any way telling you what to do. I'm not gonna be responsible if you don't like how things turn out. I'm just presenting info. You can make your own decisions from there.

Personally, I wouldn't waste time and money on "Well, I'll go KA-T for now and VQ next... Eventually I'll get the RB that I really want...". Screw that! Just put all your resources into what you really want from the start! Just make sure you know precisely why you want it before you dive in.

I haven't met the KA-R guy personally, but he has a build thread around here somewhere. It was pretty cheap, reportedly, and felt like a normal KA. Except with like 65 more hp and like 100 more torque. If you compare it to it's closest upgrade alternative, a bolt on t25/t28 turbo kit, the supercharger would come out on top thanks to it's excessive torque...

well i want a turboed car BUT i also need a DD so thats why im gonna go KA-t on my zenki then when I get an s13 ill project vq30det when thats all buttoned up then The s14 will be the project whore in the end so i always have a running car and not have to worry about time and a ride and have massive time to get the vq30det s13 right the first time. I have been watching freaking vq30det movies on youtube like crazy thanks to you haahahahaha! You didnt tell me to do it you just twisted my arm a little towards that motor. Its all good i see what your saying tho they are little mini monsters and they need to be utilized plus we can start our own thread like vq30det mini monster and s*** f*** b**** a** felt like haveing all them astricts however you spell them.

You wouldn't happen to know where white boy gets that front bumper? I've seen a couple zenki r33 look-a-likes online but never found one as nice as this one. At this point I'm between the bomex kit or an r33 style just to give it that skyline feel; a man can dream can't he?

thanks for the info, but might you happen to know where this comes from as well?

Yeah, I posted that one, because despite its inherrant ricey-ness, I still like how a tastefully done R33 kit can make a Zenki look. It strengthens the continuity between it's big brother of the time, the R33. That's just my opinion though and its not a popular one. lol

I don't like the fact that his side skirts seem to be molded ... But that kit plus this hood/grill/clear headlights, more agressive drop and deep dished wheels would look great to me.

It's just gonna need good pwer to shut up the R33 style haters... lol
