i know this is an old thread but I am looking for assistance. My M45 engine has just died and Infiniti is telling me I need to replace it. I have all the service records for my oil changes and and they are still telling me it is my issue. I have 119,000 total miles on the car, BUT only 45000 on this engine. Yes I already had my original engine replaced June of 2009 with 72.000 miles on it that I had to pay $12,000 on. I don't know how they can even claim this isn't their issue when I have all service records they wanted. it looks as though we are going to get an attorney and see what happens. Kind of crazy to ask to spend $13,000 on a car that is now only worth about $16,000. I am just curious if anyone else has had any issues.

The only way I'd fight this is if you win Infiniti has to pay your attorney fees, or someone you know is an attorney; because the cost to fight this will prob be half the cost of the engine. If a dealer told you this, try another dealer and corporate. If corporate told you this I would write letters to everyone in corporate and under the moon, and if that doesnt work cut your losses, sell it, and get a used one if you choose to stay w/ Infiniti. $16K for yours + 5K on your would be attorney fees + a little more = a nice used 08 model with less than $50K miles. So much less headache. But good luck with whatever you do.

...and yes, I know it's the principle, but principle can be an expensive B!$C$

I'm concerned I may be having something similar going on..... I recently purchased the R2C M45 intake and was making a video clip of the engine bay and the mic on my androids phone picked up an extremely loud knocking!! I checked my belt and it is wearing out...(cracking and dry). I'm at 58,500 miles now but I brought up the knocking noise to the service advisor at my dealership at about 40k miles and he blew me off saying the increased noise was from the KnN filter!! I will post a video clip tonight as I am not near my computer now but hopefully someone can help ME out also!! I plan on keeping my m45 as long as it goes...just hoping its not this short lived!!

Tdot, I agree but 13Gs is hard to come by right now so I am just trying anything. My father in law knows an attorney that said he can help for not too much. I am also reaching out to our local tv news stations who eat this stuff up. I am still in talks with Infiniti about maybe even making some sort of deal for my old one on a new M so I am trying to be positive. I love Nissan/infiniti I have worked my way up from a Sentra Maxima now to the pinical of cars in my opinion. Heres to hope. I will keep you posted.

Bodyguard I hope the best for you and keep us posted I hope you do not have to deal with this, it is very disheartening ecspesially this time of year.

Anyone listen to my videos ^^ I'm going in to dealership this morning my car has 59,500 on it. They listened to my ticking noise which I think it's KNOCKING!! I really didn't notice it until I made the videos, you really can't hear much live and in person. The service manager says it's normal piston noise. I know I can be covered as long as I show continuos complaints about the noises(knocking) my engine makes but they still say it is NORMAL! I asked about the tensioner and he mentioned that "THAT" is more common but I also complained about a constant winding noise my a/c compressor makes and he said and I quote "The noises are not going to go away, but if will make you happy I will change your compressor and recharge the whole a/c system with new oil in it and the whole works". But he also said "I won't change both the tensioner AND the compressor"!! As he stated that nothing was wrong with the noises so "Just" to keep me HAPPY he would change one for me only!! Engine is covered 6/70k so I opted for the compressor... I should add that I have monitored my oi level since I first read the posts on oil burning and my car never showed signs of oil burning so that is a big plus!! :dblthumb: But why the KNOCKING I ask???

Also, I'm doing SOME not ALL of my 60K service.... Which would you guys say is MOST important ??
Not doing tire rotation as I recently put a fresh set of stock 19" on ther, oil change will be done, belts are going in as a freeby since I'm getting the compressor, R2C intake is in so no air filter will be needed, new wiper blades on already.
-ATF change or flush?
-coolant flush?
-in-cabin microfilter?
-differential oil?
-radiator cap?
-climate control seat filter?

All these are recommended under the PREMIUM MAINTENANCE schedule!!

If I choose to just do the schedule 1 and 2 maintenance all I need at 60k is Oil change(already going in for this), seat filters, air filter(not needed for me), in-cabin microfilter and the rest is just an INSPECTION of all the above mentioned in the Premium schedule.... So Again what do you recommend I get done from the PREMIUM schedule?? If anything... :poke:

The in-cabin microfilter and climate control seat filter are just creature-comfort items, not important to the mechanical functioning of the car. I wouldn't think the radiaor cap would need replaced until/unless it failed, not sure why they recommend it premium only. Personally, I would do the ATF flush (replace the Matic-J with Matic-S) and the coolant flush. Both of those things have potential mechanical life benefit.

Not that I would suggest this, but a friend of mine said that he would just make it disappear. I think it's messed up that the company would make a product that would have a potential fault and then they don't want to honor it or even address it. I hope I never have that issue, because giving up 10+ grand on top of insurance and note is not happening. I don't know what I would do. I feel for you and wish you luck.
