I think I am ready to handle the WRX Bud. I was too chicken to drive it in BG, but I have had more experience w/ 5spds as of late, so I think I am ready for the beast. That is, if the offer still stands. If not, can I please have another ride?! :D

Ben,The offer always stands. You may be the first to drive it after we get done hacking it apart tomorrow. The thing I love about the Impreza club here in town, we have install days where you get free labor. I am trying to get Chris to come to the meet and bring his STi. He is a bit anal about this STi though. Its kinda funny.

Depending on what the wife does this next weekend, you can drive the car for the weekend if you want.

If you saw how the EJ20 motor is crammed into the engine bay of my GDB WRX, free labor and know how is a good thing.

I heard about the WRX's have 3 cats. That is completely insane. That is an awesome offer man, thanks!!!! I doubt I'll take you up on it, but thanks for at least trustin me w/ your pride and joy :D Oh, you think your Scooby buddies would wanna help me do my 5spd swap, cause I bet I could get it done faster with them than with anyone else, unless I paid to get it done. Me and Chris and Robbie and Rubin are planning to do it, but I dont know when all of us would be able to meet up and do it, with our different schedules, etc.

for the weekend!!! damn, im comin too!!!! haha, as far as the srt-4, they retail for just at 2ok, thats why they're going to sell, but they're cheap for a reason too, the wrx may cost 24k, but seems much more worth the money, im not raggin on the srt-4, but i know what i can expect from a scooby, but not too sure about the neon, but i cant' say they're crappy, as ive never driven one, and as far as the last well built dodge ,hmm.....viper, but thats about it, although the new 5.7 liter hemi looks and sounds sweet!!o, and also, what year is the sti? does he have the older 2.o liter, or the 22b!!!! or the new STi, which i thought wasnt out yet?

i just realized the WRX has an msrp of cerca 25,000. in that case I would never consider getting a SRT-4.

I think if you show up to any of our install days, they will help. There was a Honda guy that showed up and started slinging wrenches with us. Was pretty kewl.

And you can pick them up for under MSRP. I did. One of the guys in our club picked up an '04 and got the dealership to throw in all the scheduled maintanence for free.

The STi is new for this year. It has the EJ25 engine. The same engine block as in the Turbo Forester and the RS. Just some SLIGHT differences :) . It also has a hood scoop that could swallow a flock of geese as Repoman commented.

The 22B has always been a bad *** car. They did make some Impreza's here in the US with the 2.2 engine.

22B with the turbo was only available in Europe and Japan. His is the Midnight Blue color. I always like the World Rally Pearl Blue. You can pick up a STi at most Subaru dealerships as of the first week in June.

The STi list at 30,995 for MSRP. You would be very hard pressed to find a STi for under MSRP. Some dealers are charging over MSRP (2k) :nono BTW, here is his weblink.

Back to the topic. The SRT-4 is a hell of a lot of power for 20k. It is lacking, in that it has FWD, no LSD, zero camber. It does have a 2.4 turbo and no mufflers which is pretty kewl. Even though it has a good warranty, it is still a pain in the *** to have to take it to the dealership if it keeps braking down. And if it is a maintanence nightmare, after the warranty runs out, you inherit the problem.

I rode in a SRT-4 that a person that I work with just got the other day.It is very quick and will make many cars that cost way more look sad,but like everyone has stated the fit and finish was poor. The muffler tips were un-even.One stuck out about an inch further than the other. He spanked a GTI VR6 and several V8's that night.

are there cooler looking NEW cars out there for $19K?

I'm currently trying to talk a friend of mine into getting the SRT-4. $19K is cheap and neon or not it can't be worse than the cavalier Z24 he's driving now. He'll get two more doors and hella more power. He was looking at the RX-8's but the price is out of his range. RX-8's are sweet looking but the performance numbers don't seem to add up to the price. I'd rather save $11K+ and have a faster car.

Well I have to agree with the reliability of new Dodges being questionable and how ugly the car it, but those things put out sick power stock. They underrated these things, they're putting out a min. of their claimed crank HP at the wheels and pretty sick torque numbers. Yes they have good "bang for the buck" value but I think they look like sh*t and I don't tryst their reliability seeing as many neons as I do pouring smoke out the tailpipe.

haha, bud u know if i could i would, hell i cant pay to run my car on a dyno, although i dont think i want to, just saying i have 175 (crank) hp is good enough to me, i dont want to spoil it by dynoing at 14ohp :(, but as far as your wrx, the dyno's ive seen were 162.6whp 162.5wtq
