The vert looks like it's in great shape. How many miles are on it?

Seriously...original floormats, original carpet, door panel inserts that aren't held in by screws. That thing is fugging cherry. Are you missing the center emblem for the steering wheel though?

I have been on the forum for a little while. I have had the car about three weeks, but just got around to taking some pix. It's been raining and stuff here in Alabama. There is 117.5k miles on the vert.

I do have the center emblem for the steering wheel. I could easily glue it back in, but I may look for some kind of red madallion or something and get a steering wheel cover with red in it as well. The interior is solid black. I love the fact it is leather, but there is no color there at all except for the gray carpet. I really haven't decided yet.

I put it in the registry a couple of weeks ago.

I do plan on doing some mild mods, but nothing too radical. I have nice Toyo tires around it, so I will wait until I get some wear into them and than I'll probably get some new wheels/tires/coilovers. A body kit isn't feasable for me though. I live in the country and though I could lower the car some, I would tear a body kit to hades and back just pulling into my yard. I want to get some red trim (close to AG2 color) in my interior and get the look right, before I decide on any performance mods other than a simple cold-air induction or something like that.

Wow, you seriously got yourself a really clean vert there, but don't be so damned excited about it...

Chilling? That kids so chill, he's frozen. Funny pic.

That's custom, right? That's very colorful. I did something similar to a car once and ended up not liking it. Looks like good work nonetheless, and when the wife's happy, the rest of the world can keep spinning.

Thanks for getting some pictures up!

Ha ha ha... I don't know if it was the sun angle or what, but my mouth looked funny in those pictures. I wasn't smiling mind you, but I looked like a big sourpuss in those pix probably just squinting from the sun. I actually took the picture of my boy after a road trip (about 25 miles) I was surprised he fell asleep in the back of a vert, but indeed he did. Daddy's car has his approval. ABout the Quest......I would love to say I spent about 4 grand on that interior, but it is bone stock, less the tissues I forgot to move and the seat cover. I drove 250 miles for that van. I wanted either smoke or silver with the "Rogue" interior. I looked for three months to find that combination with low miles (26k.) That van is freaking bad-axe !!! It has a 265W Bose 10 speaker system with a 10" sub under the driver's seat and a 240 HP VQ35 under the hood. I paid for it mind you, but I am happy with it. As far as the vert is concerned, I am tickled pink. It is far from perfect, but it is in great shape for a 16 year-old car. I plan on taking great care of it. I have owned it long enough for a little of the newness to wear off, but after owning it for three weeks, if I totalled it, I would pay 5k for another like it. I would like a little better performance, but I get 26mpg.......

See you on another thread Dex !!

Careful, that might mean he is bored of it already and demands a turbo at 40psi

Hmmm... not a bad idea because my last name starts with "S." I am not really into JDM stuff so much other than performance mods as far as the 240SX goes though. I think the 240 looks better than the Sylvia... at least on the front end.

Hmmm... I have heard the Howard Stern before, but not Ozzy. I must be getting old. Maybe I should trade my vert in for a facelift.

Ha ha ha I'll be sure to do something different on the next ones. Maybe I can flash the horn sign and stick my tongue out like a metal-head SHOULD do on the next photos. How about this one ?

Ha ha ha certainly a turbo is a possibility. I have been pricing a twin turbo set-up (for the KA, not interested in an engine swap) to reduce lag. It looks a little pricey for my budget right now, but who knows what the future holds ? My Quest has the VQ35DE though. That motor is SWEET !! My freaking mini-van will blow my sports car away. A VQ35 swap would be the real deal. 300 hp and 20mpg. The price would be way out of my budget right now, but I can dream. There is no substitute for displacement. I wonder if the VH45DE would fit ? Ha ha ha J/K. Maybe I can chew you out next week LOL >:P~ I have some noises I am not keen on hearing in the front end of my motor. I am thinking it is likely timing chain issues. After working on machinery all night, I will be in a really great mood coming home and working on machinery again. Ha ha ha

Twin turbo is completely a waste of extra money. A properly sized turbo will do just fine.

Twin turbo is a waste. Single turbo is the way to go. You need to figure out your goals and size the turbo appropriately. The cost to benefit of twin turbo is not there unless you're going for uniqueness.

Here's a twin turbo KA24E (SOHC): zerothread/273737

That's also been done. We have a vert sporting the VQ right now - it's one of the sexiest verts in the world. Guy's name is Micky and his screen name is 110octane. There's a handful of other s-chassis roaming around with this swap too. Start saving. Last I knew, the guy who was doing the cleanest swaps was asking $7k out the door - you give him your car, you drive away with the complete package. It's a great deal.

I can't find the link for the guy who was doing these swaps - he was pretty much the first guy to do it. It was one of my favorite threads to read. Oh well, maybe someone else can find it. Here are the links for the "Vader Vert" as it's been dubbed.zerothread?id=233996http://forums.nicoc ... ?id=234006

Don't kid about that. It's in the process right now. There's a member here swapping a VH45DE into a vert as we speak. He's planning on going twin turbo and is making decent progress. Again, nothing new - there's a handful of s-chassis running around with the VH swap. My personal dream is to one day be rocking a VH45DETT convertible... it might take me 10 years, but I'll do it.

Here's the guy with the VH vert:zerothread/313032And here's an awesome thread about putting the VH in an S14 (featured on the Nico homepage):http://www.nicoclub.com/articles/240-swap.shtml

Super easy fix. Get a new valve cover gasket from the auto parts store. Then go home, pull the valve cover and remove the upper timing chain "guide". Replace your valve cover and that should take care of it.

Here's a thread on removing the guides. Just do the top guide. If you're really ambitious and want to make an evening of wrenching, remove the second one too, but just eliminating the top one will do wonders. zerothread/105618

You'll be surprised once you browse around Nico how much information is here. The SEARCH is your friend.

I also thought, "Wow, this guy looks like a cross between Ozzy and Howard". For some reason, you look a LOT older in those first couple pictures.

Twin turbo very well may not be much of an advantage in a small displacement motor. I'm new to being a "tuner." I tinkered around with muscle cars and classic VWs back in the day. I know that sequential twin turbos have been pretty effective on V6 and V8 motors though, but it is simply a dream. The cost factor of a sequential twin turbo would be ginourmous.

I saw the "Vader" vert. It is a beautiful machine. That VQ is one hideous beast without the engine dressing around it though. Hopefully he has come up with some kind of intake.

I doubt I would ever go with a Nissan V8 in my 240. If I were to decide to forgo my gas mileage altogether, I would probably just wedge in a small block American motor. I could do it for 1/4 the cost of a V8 Nissan swap. I know that has been done as well. I suppose I need to go with a 360 Chrysler (the biggest Chrysler small block) to be "unique." To be honest, I don't really want to do that. Too much work for me and I am too cheap to pay someone else.

The "shotgun" picture is about four years old, but I don't think I look that much different. I think it was the sun in my face making me squint. Now you have me paranoid. I have to take some more pictures and make sure I don't look like an old man.

Lastly, the Quest interior is stock. It is a rare color and I had to drive about 300 miles to get that van with that color combination. A mini-van, no matter how clean just doesn't have much of a "cool-factor" to it, but I love it. It has a 10 speaker (including a sub under the driver's seat and a "center channel on the dash) 265W factory Bose stereo system in it. That Quest is loaded out as it can get.

Oh and P.S. I have been using the search for various things. However, so much has been covered, if I don't talk a little about what has already been done, there won't be much to have a conversation on.....
