Legal is the thing here. There are legal ways, and illegal ways. I've seen Sunny GTIR's in the states before, and True S13 Silvias. I even saw a Lotus Elise 3 years ago and they just became legally imported into the US this year.
How many times have you been pulled over? How many times have the cops ever started to really go over the car, checking VINS and stuff? I've never had it happen and my car looks very little like it did originally and the color is totally different. Find a way to import the car (it happens more than you think) claim it as a scrap car, or parts or whatever, even if you ship the body in pieces, then find a car with a title in a junkyard, and register it. Bam, illegally registerd imported car that will more than likely never be caught.
