i just decided to convert this into a build thread. omg lol

ok so here it goes. i wanted to do rhd. ever sense i first got into s13's. finally started it. instead of using the jdm harness, i used the us one. i had to extend the ignition harness, bezzel harness, petal harness and move the ecu to the other side. im having it welded in 2morro evening, then i can drop the motor back in. im also picking up a rhd s14 dash this week. the only ****ty thing is, is hat it's a single ka. also drifting is gonna be way different. my friend has a 91 180sx, so after driving it, i had to convert mine. i payed 100$ for my empty clip, and about 80 in misc parts and tools. and im paying the welder 100$. here are the pics. enjoi

before (heading to formula d wa)

started gutting the inside

engines out

rhd firewall in

the best part is, everything works.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXxx

redoing alot of shortcuts and adding more parts.

previous suspension mods kazama/tanabe

Q45 calipers, with z32 rotors drilled to 4 lug

i bought a ca18det swap. sr turbo, arp studs, cometic headgasket, spec stage 2 6 puc, new timing belt/waterpump.

clean interior (apexi turbo timer from a gtr halfcut )

old dash, 180sx glass

so i got a silvia front and advan sa3's

i sold it, and traded the wheels for rota d2 18x9

i sorced a jdm pignose bumper (sidemount hole)

i sold my s14 seats and got a gtr seat

i sold my oem mudflaps and got veilside skirts and jdm sidemarkers (+1 on skirt fitment)

i just picked up the following:pignose lip, gtr fuel pump, and coolant temp gauge/boost gauge

looks koo man, but heres a suggestion. instead of extending a whole bunch of wires just flip the whole body harness. and then just do a wire tuck thats what im doing. the only thing i have to extend is the fuel pump plug, and extend wires from the transmission harness and battery cable its pretty easy. well it seemed like a lot less work to me. plust your fuse box location goes on the rhd side it makes things a bit more cleaner. but it looks good bro

i was gonna do that, but then the fuse box would be up side down and the main relay box under the hood would be on the otherside. i think. plus the jdm harness i got was ****ed up. extending those wires was a pain though. thanks

naw bro its not that bad trust me....i put the big fuse box under the drivers fender right next to my intercooler pipes and the other one thats orginally on the drivers side would just lay on the battery tray. then i just added a distribution block for the transmission harness and just hooked up all the wires that need power to it. plus im moving my battery to the trunk so the distribution block really helps out. and yes the fuse box in the car would be upside down but who cares i dont think that wouldnt of been a deal breaker for me to not make it look cleaner...plus if a fuse goes bad then you just look through and you just flip the diagram on the kick panel and find the blown fuse.

are you planning on installing the complete RHD heater/fan motor components?(all the parts under the dash)

if so, you might run into some issues because I think the fuse-block sits right where the end of the fan motor needs to be..

my honest opinion is this conversion seems to be pretty half ***. I "guess" I can understand not putting the heater/defrost back in if you dont drive the car ever in the winter or when its cold out; but hopefully your atleast going to switch the ebrake over to the correct side of the tunnel so the center console/radio surround can fit.

"successfully" doing a RHD conversion would mean that your wiring didnt look like ****, you used the proper harness, had a heater working so you could at least defog your windshield for safety, and didnt have a cracked-*** dash instead of a good condition USDM one. non performance modifications are also quite common in americas youth.

it looks like a $280 "conversion". props for trying i guess. most times a flawless execution of a small project will top a half-*** execution of a large project.

I wasnt hating, I simply stated my honest opinion. sr20detRcr1, looks to me have successfully done a good/proper RHD conversion.

to be constructive, i dont think its too late to clean a few things up, and make this a "proper" conversion.. i just hope your not finished because you can drive from the other side now.

tampon??why the **** if i have money should i spend it on performance rather than looks? isn't that smart if teens spend on looks rather than performance due to immaturity?

anywho. the reason i used the us harness is because the clip i got had alot of cut wires in it. didn't want to mess with that. i purchased a clip, it came with that dash. im pretty busy, so im not sure when ill get the ebrake switched over. im planning on doing it, but i didn't get a rhd center console in my clip. so no rush really. i got the kick panels, glove box and the plastic under the steering coloumn, and a 180sx rear garnesh installed today.
