finally done with my R51 (and something for the R51 haters that say they are mall cruisers). I installed my Rancho QuckLift on all 4 corners this week, had it aligned, and installed 18" MB motoring 72's wrapped with 285/60/18 Cooper LTZ's. I figure it was time to share some pics wtih my fellow NICO members.

We really need more r51 members on here. That thing looks awesome and oh man I love the colour. The tread is so aggressive it really accents the lift. Great work I'm loving it!

Sales of R-51's have not been as good as previous builds, due in part to the economy but I think more so because they aren't as distinguished anymore. The second part is just my opinion though.

It should be easier to spot in the mall parking lot now.

Nicely done. Clean, moddest, like the wheels. Those 18s don't look like 18s. Maybe its the tire or just the size of the R51.

Your not done modding, you are just merely resting.

Yeah, now I can see it sticking out above those 4runners... LOL

I was thinkin of going with 20's cause there are more tire size options. But with the largest dia. that I could go w/o cutting into the fender liner, I had to go with 18's to keep some decent sidewall. With the size and offset that is on there I do have a little rubbing at full lock, but nothing a heat gun and a little bending wouldn't take care of.

if you got some spare time, you might wanna consider waxing the wheels to save that shine. I waxed 2 out of four wheels, and at first i was like "damn the wax almost makes them seem duller???" but then 6 months later, the wheels that i waxed were still shiny (like new) while the ones i didnt wax are losing their luster.

The R51's are nowhere, not too many people buy them. Everybody has jumped ship to crossovers, where as the R50 was sold in a better market environment of the suv craze in the 90's. I used to have a 06LE and sold it because it didn't stand out and was simply put, boring. Didn't enjoy it Half as much as my 01LE.

Thanks Mr. Obvious

I happen to like mine, it does what I need it to and when.... it tows good, it hauls family good, is fast when I need it, and handles my off road ventures good. And I guess now I like it even more cause it's not a mainstream crossover.

Like I've always said... opinions are like @ssholes, everybody has one

Well i live in a city of over 1 million, and i barely see any 05+ pathfinders on the road. The people i knew that drove pathfinders/ anything in the class have all moved to cars like the Nissan Murano. I admit there's still bulky Suvs driving around considering i drive 2, but nowhere near as much as a few years ago.

Oh and as to why not too many on these forums probably mostly due to the fact the majority of pathfinders " just my observation where i live" are driven by moms driving their kids to school/soccer practice. Also it's quite a bit more expensive than a R50 so a lot of the younger people probably couldn't afford it, but i'am sure given the chance 99% of the people here would upgrade if they could.

Salem, this is by far one of the nicest Pathfinders I have seen. Exceptionally clean, fantastic color, love the wheels/tires. Test drove an R51, it is alot bigger. LIfted, it looks huge. Have seen lots of lifted Titans in person, but havent seen a lifted R51 except in 4wheeler mags. I am not a fan of graphics/stripes etc so to me your Path is perfect. Great Job!!!

I don't mind being a Guinea Pig.... it's not the first time . It actually rides and handles better than stock, I think due to the fact the Rancho shocks are 9 way adjustable. Thanks again for the compliments

So far I've been mostly using 7f/7r.... a good for everything setting. But for better handling 8f/9r is a bit harsh but makes it feel very planted to the road. I haven't had a chance to take it off road yet but my guess is probably 4f/5r. Rancho suggests a lower setting in the rear, but I think they say that cause most of their customers install them on trucks. I like an equal or higher setting in the rear to help control the R51's heavy arse.

Hi salem240 I have a R-51 pathfinder as you do, and just recently installed the 4x4 parts deluxe suspension package. This package included 2 inch rear lift springs, rear rancho rs9000xl shocks for rear, as well as the rancho quicklift shocks up front. I am having a problem when I go over speed bumps and the wheel starts to drop off, or any bump similar where the wheel drops where I here a dull thud sound in front back is dead silent. I don’t know if my shop just installed the bump stops wrong or if I have another problem, or possibly this is a normal effect of the lift. Do you have any travel or sound issues that are similar? You can also feel it in the floor when it happens. I just hate the thought of this doing some kind of damage to my truck. The shop didn’t give me the install instructions, and were very unhappy with me the day they put it on. They must have had some difficulty doing the job. Since it has been installed I have had to replace all of the rear lower control arms because all of the camber bolts were seized inside of the control arm bushing sleeves. I still need to replace the fronts so they can get my front caster adjustment right. One final thing they said that they couldn’t get the rear camber perfect but the rest was fine in back. The only problem with the front is a slight caster problem but the camber and toe are fine. I hope I didn’t bore you to much but I thought a little background might help you understand my dire situation. Did you have any kind of alignment issue? Oh and did I mention that my wife is 7 months pregnant I need to fix this and rap it up soon for as little money as possible. I think your truck looks great and hopefully mine is on its way, same stance but I am stuck with a set of stock sized tires. Did your new meats bog your truck down much? Thank you for any response you are the only pathfinder I have found with the quicklift, and possibly my only chance for a comparison, and help. I am afraid that ac may have gotten over on us both because i noticed you asking about this issue before. Did you find anything out? I have emailed ac and they ask for pictures of the install? what that would tell them. I also emailed rancho and have recieved no response as of yet but only been a couple of days.

The sound you hear is quite common with a 2-2.5" lift on a Pathy/Frontier front end. The upper control arm is making contact with the spring, I lucked out somehow and mine doesn't do it. Calmini makes an adjustable upper control arm that resolves this issue, but they're expensive as hell. And as for the rear susp yours must be an 06+ because you need a camber bolt for it, for some reason Nissan only put it on the 05's. I had no problems with my alignment, and the tires actually feel like they roll better than the 265/75/16 Firestone Destination A/T's (that I have for sale if you want them). I recently took a trip with about 20% city and 80% highway (not above 65mph) and averaged 21 mpg, so my mpg isn't dead. Is your Pathy 2wd ? mabe the lighter curb weight is sitting the front a little higher than mine causing the upper arm to make contact with the spring. Here is a link to the Calmini suspension arms http://www.purenissan.com/D40Control%20Arm.htm

i agree. just because it's lifted doesn't make it less of a mall crawler. now it's just a poser off roader.
