She just doesn't want to be thinking of me every time she has to go somewhere with you.

I tried to let her down easy, but you know how sentimental women can be. :D

Trust me - With 300 hp and heated seats, even Tino could get laid.

No, it's "I could HAVE sworn someone...".

Oh c'mon. You know you want a Q. Even considering it this much tells us all that you really want one. Who cares about mileage? It's the feel. The Q just feels great from the moment you start her up until you tuck her in at night. There's just something about a 278hp luxury car with leather seats and a V8 that no one, not even the 240 crowds can duplicate. Go with your gut, join the Q crowd and you'll never go back!!

Nick :)

P.S. Just look at Fred if you need evidence. How many Q's has that guy owned? 4 I think? :)

And we wouldn't want to. If we wanted to drive a boat everyday, we'd live on the water!:D

That may be an argument on the con side. If Mary Kay sponsored the Q he would have owned a dozen by now.

As a pro..your true role model (me) owns two.

Face it, the Q is a man's car. Power, prestige, luxury, looks, class. If you wanted to supplement your income by running a paper route, delivering pizzas or selling girl scout cookies door to door then buy a Turd40.

And as far as Tino getting laid??? He would bust his first nut by just sitting in a Q (pick up some extra size 20 fruit of the looms before the test drive TiT-O).

If I wanted to sit on a turd every day I'd stay on the toilet or buy a pair of Tino's underwear on Ebay (or move in with Vim)!:D

Maine, when you find a 240 that'll run high 14's bone stock, then I'll go along with the "boat" thing. :D

I know, here comes the blather: "C'mon, old man, let's see what your Grandma's ride can do on a road course!"

The more I hear it the more I think you guys would be surprised - She's got a big a$$, but she sho is nimble!

What is the Caomparison of both cars handling wise?

Like what are the Salom speeds and skidpad numbers?

I think it would be fun to drive a Q on a road coarse keep it in second the whole time =) And drift around every turn

I'm pretty sure I want a Q, but I have not driven a first gen. I have only driven a '98 and it seemed pretty sluggish off the line. Are the '98s slower than the first gens? I didn't get a chance to really air it out on the highway, but that may have been a different story. Helluva nice car though!

I do remember racing them in the early and mid 90's in my dad's Buick. They were definitely fast above 60, and I miss having a car that will walk away from a pack of traffic with little effort.

97 to 01 are generally accepted to be slower. The 90-93 were the real hotrods, with the 94-5 slotted somewhere in between (closer to the 90-93 in performance). The 96 is an anomaly as that's when OBDII came along and was not yet accounted for in the 1st-gen platform.

Comparing our cars to a 240? I have a video of the 94-95 Q dominating a pack of world-class contenders in several arenas, including BMW, Lexus and Caddy.

I'd say depending on the road course.

Lots of twisties, of course the 240 wins.

Very long straights with turns few and far between, a Q would absolutely destroy a bone stock 240sx.

When I was driving back from NY in the 240sx, going from 60mph to 100 seemed like an eternity.

The Q weighs over two tons, but once that mass is moving, it really hauls ***. Q45tech timed his Q going from 100-150mph at a full 15 seconds I believe. To put that into perspective, in Road and Track's last Supercar challenge, three of the 14 cars that competed ran from 100-150mph in 15 seconds or more: a 460hp supercharged NSX did it in 18.5sec, a 440hp Mercedes SLK38K did it in 17.9 sec and a bored and stroked C5 Vette ran it in exactly 15sec. Let's not forget that a stock Corvette Z06 would take a full 15.8sec to complete this task.

These are all vehicles that weigh a full thousand pounds less than a Q. The Q is also much more stable at 160mph than all the afore-mentioned sports cars could dream of being. Hence why this car is commonly referred to as "THE" high-way beast.

Soph, is his car stock? That is truly impressive. Was there a Lingenfelter car in that mix?

Q45tech has a JWT chip, exhaust and extrude-honed manifold I think. That's still fairly stock.

There was a Lingenfelter in the competition, in fact it won the overall contest because of from 100-150mph none of the other cars came even close...

The Porsche took home braking, slalom and road course honors but narrowly lost because of a slower top-speed run than the Vette.

By the way, the Vette went from 100-150 in barely over 9 seconds! :ylsuper

Def. get the maxima! They are very reliable and easy to maintain. You could get a turbo through Harold and that would be nice too!

Well...it looks like this thread's been beaten to death. Q guys swear buy the Q's, Maxima guys stand by the Maxima and of course the 240sx camp vouch for their own.

First and foremost, I'd like to preface by citing that I am in no way trying to knock anyone's opinion, afterall mine's just as important as the next guy's. But as I've said before, I've grown up around Nissans and right now, there's a couple of Max's and I30's, a beater 240sx and a 400hp Z in the stable.

By all means these are all great cars but as I've said before and forever preach, the Q is altogether, is another kind of vehicle. Not that any of the aforementioned cars are "common" or pedestrian in any way, it's just the Q is THAT much better. The Q's a mythical beast, a unicorn, you've been chasing...whose reputation both stirs the imagination and excites your senses. It's a ghost, a being that exists in a higher plane than your common car. It's the kind of car that opens your mind to a whole new friggin' world yet saddens you at the same time. The Q is the apogee of automotive excellence and you know that when you buy another car, step into any car not named Bentley, or rolled off the assembly floors of a secluded Italian assembly line, you're settling for less. It's not just a friggin car!, but a state of mind... a friggin experience.

I've come across many amazing cars in my 21 years, but none Quite measure up to the Q... For all you naysayers bashing the Q as an old-man's car...I'm deeply saddened for you guys. Meantime, I'll cruise around the Q with a great big grin on my face. :D Life is Qtiful!

I got my S14 '95 SE for 3200, that's what I suggest you try to find as well.

The deals are out there, just have to search for it.
