205/40 on 9.5 up front

205/45 is dumb. It has less clearance than 225/40.

Chinese mustang wheels. I got a set of FR500 replicas. His are probably 17x10.5 rears like mine.

Hard to turn down a $460 set of wheels with perfect offsets and huge width.

double true

You're stretching for clearance, correct? 205/45 will indeed give you LESS clearance than your 215/40 and even 225/40.

Go for a 40 series.

that happened because of sidewall damage caused by the tire going flat, NOT because it was stretched

So basically you're saying that when I'm going down the freeway at 80mph and my tire blows out that this is what's going to happen?

Ummm NO thanks.

Also a 205 on a 9" is only 8" of tread width, why buy a 9 inch wheel only to put an 8" wide tire? You want clearance??? Roll your fenders and or pull them.

not true at all.a super stretched tire will more like to blow going over a deep hole at 80mph. the rim will likely to break or crack as well due to less damping.

It's more for well clearance. Not everyone can tub the wells. Trying to keep the Diameter as small as possible gives better clearance.

245/40/17 will have more shoulder and slight taller than a 205/40/17 and they will fit with no rubbing on coils assuming the offset are under +25.

No reason for stretch at that ride height.

Stretched tires just make me think of 2 things1) waste of a rim that wide2) too broke to buy the proper tires for those rims

I hope that car has airbag suspension or something cuz there was absolutely no need to stretch that poor tyre.
