I'd go with a D40, or if you can, just go for a D90 used. Better than the d300 overall. The thing that bugs me about the D40 is the 3 meters, and it doesn't autofocus on some lens like the 50mm f1.4.

Nice! My buddy Josh used to teach game design down there. Anyways I still 100% recommend a celluloid class, you'll learn much more developing your own stuff opposed to a book.
Do you mean Josh O'Brien (I think that is his full name)? If so I had class with him before. Also is this the Josh that got a job up in Amsterdam?

Yup! He's a good friend of mine. We're both big into diving, that's how we met. He's hands down one of the most skilled divers I've ever been in the water with, him and his lady are both amazing. That's pretty funny. I thought about teaching film at the art center in santa monica but never went through with it.

Really cool, never thought he was a skill driver lol. He is a really chill person since half the time in class we didn't do anything but played unreal tournament or something.

I bought a 20d recently. I shot b&w for a little over a year but got tired of having to wait for lab days to develop/enlarge..... so I finally bought a digital slr. I don't have any good lenses yet, kit lens from a rebel film camera, and a sigma 35-135 f3.5.... $60 lens

Took it outside today for the first time New to color and digital

I would say that's the cheapest out of all of them as far as quality. I was going though this same exact struggle and looked at the same cameras you're looking at. My conclusion was that I'm going to save up and get either a 7D or D50.

From one of his instructional articles:

I was thinking this morning about how odd it is that music is a more effective visual medium than movies or photographs.

Think about it: a good piece of music takes you away. Close your eyes, and you're in a completely different place. A good piece of music takes you not just to another country, it physically takes you to another world...

Yeah he's a douche fo sho.
