You better build the hell out of that CA. Hit 450hp-500hp and that would be awesome. Same philosophy as the Top Secret JGTC JZA80 (3S-GTE in a JZA80, 750ps, wide body)

Really? I saw a full right up of it in an older Option and I even saw it for sale online. You got a link to some info on it not working? The real JGTC cars run a 3S-GTE at 500ps, and I have seen PLENTY of 600hp+ SW20s...

Crazy car yes, and it will be nice when it's done, but wouldn't the CA in the Z32 throw the weight distribution off? Also, won't the CA's low torque numbers make it hard for that 3400 lb. car to get moving quickly from a stop?

I don't mean the engine didn't work...I mean the concept didn't 'work out'. That's why they switched to V8's.

Weight distribution will probably be thrown off a little, but the Z is rather nose heavy... I think its near 60/40 weight distribution... engine weight should be completely behind the front axle, though the load will be at the front axle (due to subframe). I'm hoping to have the car around the 3100lb mark with some of the items I've removed. VG30DETT with twin turbos, twin intercoolers, twin piping, and HICAS, is rather heavy amount of weight I'd just offloaded... I'll definitely have the car weighed once I'm finished.

Because they have to run in 2000cc class.

CA in a Z32, nice project but seems like a waste just for the reasons posted above.

Ever worked on a VG30DETT in a Z32? If not, go try and work on one a few times... you'll get tired of it... especially if its yours. Its far more expensive to mod a VG30DETT than is it a CA18DET, and a much bigger pain to work on. I'll make out by leaps and bounds if the project is successful.

dude i say good luck. I have worked on a VG30DETT and it sucks. a friend of mine did some research on putting a SR in a 300 and told me that with the SR he would be dropping like 500 pounds. So if the car started at 3400 pounds then you should be somewhere around 2900 which isnt much more then the s13 or the s14....so if its that big of a weight problem with putting a CA in a 300 then why do people put them in a s14? I Cant wait to see how it runs for ya. You got to post a final weight and some track times for us when your done with it....

Right. I know this. But I was saying that I saw a while back that Top Secret did a JZA80 with a 3S-GTE and making the comparison to the Z32 with a CA in it. dori said that they dropped the project and I was just saying that I don;t know why one of the most prestidigious tuning companies in Japan couldn't replicate the performance of a JGTC car.

Don't spred misinformation. There is no 2000cc class in JGTC. :rolleyes

There's two classes, GT500 and GT300.

GT300 is regulated to approx 300hp, engine size does not matter.

GT500 cars are regulated to...you guessed it, approx 500hp.

Toyota tried the 4cly for better weight distribution and an overall lighter car. It had NOTHING to do with switching classes...it was a still a GT500 car but w/ a 4cly. The project was a 'failure' and they have since decided to run the 3UZ-FE V8.
