Boy, you are the most addicted racer I've ever seen... staying home from work all day purging so that you can lose as much weight as possible for the track! You're desperate to get those numbers below 14!

Sure you can use my spare if you want... I'll take you up on your offer for the slicks on my back in lieu of my tires... where can I put my tires while we race though????

Hope you get feeling better... shoot me a txt or call tomorrow to let me know if you're still on. If you don't feel up to it man, we can go next weekend.

Dave

I'm planning on chaining my stock tires up while racing with a padlock. Its been fine in the past. Also what I did with them during IOS trackdays.

If you want a set of slicks you'll need to stop at my house on the WEST SIDE before we go out to the track. I can only fit one set in the trunk of my G.

We had this discussion before...not a good idea to run the spare for the fronts! They're only good for 55-60 mph. I'd really hate to see a smashed up G or worse because you wanted to take a few tenths off your time.

Dave's purse has a lock on it I think, will that work?

Sorry you're under the weather there Jeff, hope you get to feeling better.

OOOOOHHH... Good call Joe, I forgot about that. I'll probably waive the slicks this go around anyway. This is my first time ever running at the track so I'll be impressed if I get in the low 16's until I learn what I'm doing.

My 3 year old could get a 14.5 out of your car so you better be faster then that LOL

The doughnuts will be on the front. Front end blow outs are the easiest to control. I'll probably be clipping 100-105 mph on a tire rated for 60-65 mph but for a very short distance and in cool weather. You can exceed rated speeds on tires you just can't do it for very long.

If it really makes a difference I'll buy some appropriate front skinnies.

Oh and DAVID leave your guns at home..

You are not allowed to have any weapons at the track and you will not need them. Your car will go through tech inspection which is sometimes just a glance under the hood and a peak in the trunk. I have had my glove box opened and under my seats looked at back in my nitrous days.

If you get caught with your gun you will get kicked out and maybe banned for life.

People at the track are very cool you will not need it.

Good to know... Some places are definately not gun friendly environments, and I respect that. I would not carry my personal protection to a venue that is not condusive to firearms. As a licensed, trained and responsible advocate of personal protection I will gladly honor their wishes.

Thanks for the heads up, 'cause I wouldn't have immediately thought to take my persoanal protection out of the car. I'll be sure to leave the cannons with the wifey at the house!

Thanks again and get feeling better man!

Dave

Hey Jeff - have you ran with the G's stock intake set up? Sounds like you have everything else down pat so I'm curious to see if the factory deisgned instake would better your times or not. Just a thought.

Cheers.

Somehow over the phone I gave David my so he was a no show.

Even though I still didn't feel well I went to the track. It was a bad night all around I saw my first accident at the track in over 5 years of racing. Newby cut in front of the trailer car in the left lane and got rearended on the exit turn.

I ran a 14.095 at 98.327 mph not bad considering the DA 1960 feet.

I watched the current body Mustangs out there running 14.3's - 14.5's so I asked the spotter to pick me a Mustang to race.

He picked a 2008 Mustang Bullitt. Big mistake let me warn the rest of you. The Bullitt is faster then the GT and faster the our G35's for sure.

http://www.caranddriver.com/re....html

The first race was close. G35 Bullitt.252 .174 reaction time2.196 2.301 60' 6.096 6.167 300'9.258 9.302 1/8th mile77.773 78.664 1/8th mile mph14.250 14.203 1/4 mile97.610 100.915 1/4 mile mph

So I lost at the tree. No problem I challenge him again,

Some how he squeaked out a .055 reaction time I got a .108 but I ran a 14.302 at 97.860 mph and he ran a 14.008 at 101.491 mph.

After the second race I went and talked to him in line the car was bone stock. 200 mile on the odometer.

So beat up on the GT's all you want but watchout for the Bullitt!!

The slicks didn't seem to make any difference in my times. I could leave at full throttle which was nice but my street tire launch is just as fast. Brake stalling to 2,000 rpm only got a 2.148 on my street tires tonight I cut a 2.154.

I also broke my breaker bar putting the slicks on! Luckily there was a 05 350Z that let me borrow his lug wrench. He was running 15.1's.

Wow, a guy raced his car with only 200 miles on it...what a fool

From what I can gather, the Bullitt has 3:73 gears, and different mufflers/exhaust (to capture the sound ot the GT that Steve McQueen drove in the SF chase scene against the Charger). It also has a different cold air intake setup. All the mods are worth about 25 extra HP. Ford claims a 13.7 time for it with a 5.0 0-60. And there are only going to be 7000 of them made for 2008, all Dark Green I believe.

Hope you get to feeling better real soon Dave. Sorry you didn't make it.

(So Jeff, without Dave did they just cancel the powder puff class last night?)

man you really like messing with David?

No he sent me a text and called my house well before I was headed to the track so I knew I was flying solo.

Yeah the guy said he had just traded his M5 for the Mustang so I guess the explains some of it?? I usually take it easy on my cars for the first 1000 miles then I do an oil change over to Mobil 1 and start driving them like I stole them.

The DA was 1960 last night so his 14.0 at 100 mph easily corrects to 13.7. I ran a 14.0 last night too so I ran a corrected 13.7 too Too bad I didn't run the 14.0 against the Bullitt!

Heres the only video I shot, this is the 300c that I raced a while back. When I raced her she ran a 13.6 and I ran a 14.0 but she red lighted.

This is my buddy Carl's 426 SRT-8 charger. I witnessed a 11.6 at 116 mph run from him. Any guess what that corrects down too in 1960 DA?

Heres video of my ride in Carls car last time I went to the track

I am going to put one of these 426's in a single cab Hemi ram someday and rule the drag strip!

No injuries just two broken cars.

After beating GT's by a couple tenths the Bullitt came out of left field. If the race would have gone on for another 1/8 mile the gap would have been bigger. After the 1/8th mile he really opened the gap and was pulling away fast.

Sorry I couldn't make it Jeff... the only way you could have gotten me there is if there was a toilet at the end of the 1/4 mile. That's the only thing I was racing for on Saturday night! I seriously felt like I had been eaten by a bear and $hit off a cliff!

Glad to see you had a safe trip... don't worry, we'll get you below the 14 mark sometime, we just need to get creative. I totally forgot that my In-laws are coming in this weekend from Madison, WI so I won't be able to go to the track then either... I have to take my father in law to a spring training game, he really wants to see the Brewers or the Cubs play... let me know if you know of a ticket hook up.

See ya soon,Dave

I don't think he did the spare tire up front trick... he was going to borrow my spare tire for the front along with his, but I couldn't make it...

I'm leaning with you Joe, I don't think the spare tire up front idea is a good thing at all. I'm not worried about Jeff ruining my spare tire 'cause that can always be replaced, but I couldn't live with myself if something bad happened and I contributed to it. Just looking out for ya Jeff...

I think I'll have to pass on the spare tire for weight reduction meathod just for the safety factor. I think there are plenty of other ways to get better track times.

Nice work repping Nissan against the Furd drivers!!!!

I wound up in the garage prepping the droptop for a Sunday event and (as usual) wound up working late into the night.

p.s. Carl's Charger is U-G-L-Y... He should see if they can get a refund for that paint job. Good thing it's faster than stink!!!

No worries I'll probably go again next month.

I love that Charger! It is scary fast.... in perfect weather it could run high 10's. He is still messing with the tune.

Jeff, why no thoughts of NOS? 50 to 60 HP should be pretty benign and put you in the mid 13's.

I had 2 nitrous kits on my ram. The transmission and motor lasted 57,000 miles and I was very safe with my kits. It just not worth it too me. The G is fast enough stock. I just need to find weather.

Hey Jeff how do you think 50-75 shot of nitrous would hold up on the G's? I was thinking about it and was told you have experience with it.

I don't know how long your motor would last.

Nitrous is tough on every part of the drive train. When you push the button the acceleration is violent and fast.

If you want to make it as safe as possible.

1> WIDEBAND Air Fuel gauge2> RPM window switch (baker electronics)3> Fuel Pressure safety switch4> Water Meth injection

I would not put nitrous on anything I planned to drive to and from work again.
