what are all my options for exhausts and intakes? I was thinking about a cold air intake, and a full exhaust, what are my options?

thanksJeff

I found Injen Cold air intakes, HKS intakes, and AEM short ram, which of these would you recommend?

Welcome. You'll need to do some research and see how much money and what kind of results you are hoping to get.

I have an AEM cold air intake and BRM exhaust and love them both. They may have added a few horses but they were expensive. I think I spent $130 on the CAI and $450 on the exhaust. Here are my write-ups but there's tons of information out there.zerothread?id=267724

Good luck!

Cheapest would probably be classifieds from NicoClub, Zilvia or Northwestnissans.

reason im asking all this is because I dont want any knockoffs, can I have a direct link to both HKS exhaust (as full as possible) and an AEM cold air intake.

I really appreciate itJeff

I hope to go cmkelly's route. I bought a generic CAI off eBay for about $40 and a separate AEM filter for another $40-ish. Definitely want to go with a BRM with all the shiny bits but I just haven't summoned the nerve to plunk down that 600 bones.

So now ive got my friend on a local forum telling me that the KA isnt worth the money to put performance into, should I take his advice and just get it back to minty condition before I do anything?, because I guess that without 4-5K it isnt worth it. I also have another friend offering me a LSX engine for under 1K, complete swap, ECU, transmission and engine. Do I take it and drop the KA? I just want 300hp max out of the car and I'll be happy.

thanksJeff

If your going to spend over $500, why not save some more money and drop in an sr?

You missed my favorite exhaust Blitz Realize TT w/3" piping. It's low profile and sounds awsome. It's for an SR, but it also works well with KA too. If you get that one, you don't have to worry about exhaust after you get an SR.

i know a place in north jersey that sells motors

and a shop, Pride Performance, they can get motors anywhere between 1600-2000.

but to do a legit swap, you'd want a blow-off valve, front mount intercooler piping and a few other things. I don't see the point in buying an exhaust for an n/a car, your not gaining THAT much power.

but for a turbo car, its a different story.

You won't get 300hp out of the KA without boost. 1000 bucks for an LSX swap sounds like a good deal. Which LS series is it?

Do it, but know that you will spend more in making it fit than the engine itself. Here is a website that can help:

http://www.hinsonsupercars.com....aspx

You don't have to buy everything from them, but I hear there headers are very worth it because they install so easily.

Yes, yes... 3 inch. Sounds amazing on both SR and KA.

It may sound nice on the KA but would give a crappy performance addition. Would probably take away from performance, not that you would get a lot out of a stock KA.

a 3" on the SR would do a lot more than it would on the KA. either way, it'll sound gorgeous on both motors

3" exhaust on KA improves performance, doesn't reduce it.

how do you figure though?

its a 3" exhaust on an n/a car. you'd want some back pressure, a 3" exhaust wouldn't give you enough back pressure for considerable gains for low-end power. and top end power that you would gain wouldn't be that significant either. a 2.5" exhaust would be the best option for a stock ka with an intake.

There is one dyno that proves otherwise, yes ONE.

It was years ago from a site called 'fresh alloy' I can't find it.

From personal experience I've had 2.5 and 3in on stock KAs and did notice more with 3in from the butt dyno, but I dunno bout 15whp

I would recommend 2.5 on an NA.

But I would recommend a V8 swap moreso.

15whp on a turbo car sure i can understand that

but no way in hell would an exhaust add 15whp on an n/a car.

i would love to see stock ka dynos VS. ka with 2.5" exhaust VS. 3" exhaust

butt dyno's don't mean anything because people get hyped up and think their car is faster because its louder.
