The king has no clothes! Well that's how I feel so far. As I mentioned in the other thread: zer...age=2

I bought an AEM intake and filter, installed it but before I did ran some 0-60 times to get a before and after. I actually lost a second! Same road, same time of day and engine conditions. What gives? My only thought is that some of the hoses are now a little bent which may be restricting air flow somewhat. I plan on getting some 5/8" hoses and making them fit perfectly to see if that helps. Overall the fitment is excellent, however, one hose is a little crimped.

What has been others experience? The sound is fantastic and at higher RPMs I can actually feel a difference. But from standing still it takes too long to get to the higher RPMs and thus there is a lag, sort of like the turbo lag on an old Mustang 2.3L from the 80's. I know, before most of your time....

Did you disconnect your battery when you installed it? Should have, resets the ECU and then should take the ECU a little while to adjust to the new intake. Could be the issue.

Hmm, you should've taken some sound clips before and after for comparison. Oh well. Let's hope biggie's suggestion works.

You know the instructions said to but I did not. I thought it was more for safety. Am I screwed or should I disconnect the battery now and let it reset?

Thanks!

You should be fine with discoing the battery for a bit and resetting it.

Yeah, as Loki said, go ahead and disconnect it and leave it off for a few minutes (15-30), forgot how long it takes to reset it.

Were you totally stomping the gas when testing? The AT likes to shift at ~5500 rpm, and the intake sacrifices low end power to gain high end power.

Okay, disconnected the battery, reset the ECU and the difference was amazing. Knocked a second off my best time ("before") and two seconds off the crappy "after" un-reset time.

The initial response is better than before and like before at higher RPMs it really takes off. 50-70 takes no time at all. Plus it sound great.

Now time to start looking at a cat-back exhaust system that doesn't sound like a riced out fart can. Any suggestions?

Thanks, cmkelly

Have a local exhaust shop fab a mandrel-bent 2.5" system with 22" Magnaflow resonator and muffler of your choice.

If you search, you will find many people saying intake is one of those useless mods. But, I felt the same thing like you did. I coud feel the difference and felt like I was driving someone else's car.

For a cat-back system I'd say a GReddy Ti-C setup would be great for what you want, it won't sound ricey because it has a nice low note to it, and it isn't very loud(supposed to be about 92 Db with the silencer in it).

I dunno, I'm really liking how the BMR looks and sounds. I'd be tempted to do something with my exhaust, but the stock exhaust I got on it is pretty new still, except for the muffler anyways.

Aluminized 2.25" or 2.5" OR Stainless Steel 2.25" or 2.5"

What's the difference in performance or is it strictly cosmetic or for longevity? Is the difference worth the $100?

How do bees make honey?

Thanks!

Stainless lasts forever, which is important in a metal part that gets extremely hot and has a lot of water running through it. There is a weight difference, but it's not important unless you are building a race car.

2.25" = less of a low end performance hit, but less overall hp gain2.5" = sacrifices low end performance for more high end performance

Stainless 2.5" would be considered the most desirable by most N/A 240 owners.

I have an intake setup and stainless 2.5" Megan exhaust, and my car is significantly faster than stock when the AT feels like letting the engine hit higher RPMs. It can be a bit of a dog going up steep hills on hot days, though.

Duel exhaust? Eh, I've always felt duel exhaust without duel manifold = rice. Just like all the Neons parked outside of NAPA.

It's a dual muffler, not dual piping.

and i agree. unless i had some Nissan V8 in the 'vert, it would NOT be getting dual piping.

I don't support SSAC(SS Autochrome) on eBay at all, but have heard good thing about their dual exhaust system. Don't know the details, but many people seem to be satisfied.

I like mine. I was gonna keep stock, but the muffler welds fell apart.

My brother picked up an SSAC single pipe system for his SR motor off of Ebay.. I'm actually pretty impressed with it. Fit nice, sounds nice (for an sr )Quality seems pretty good.
