I read about several chips that will add 30-50 HP and give 4-5 MPG better consumption.
I can tell some are a scam.
I was wondering if any of you have installed any and what you recommend.

Only the Bowen-NICO one is worth the cost.

Dinan, Stillen, Impul will also work if you can find one.

Thanks. I just spent so much on this car to get it running, $758 at the DMV, $450 Hercules H rated tires, $ 45 towing, $75 diagnostic, $ 100 2 injectors , new Mobile 1 oil $40, $175 fuel pump, $20 fuel filter, $200 the mechanic, $100 battery, $30 additives, $30 wipers,$40 fuel door solenoid, $55 window motor and regulator, and I still have problems with a strong gas smell from the gas tank, my radio is shot, the antenna does not work..... And I am buying the transmission cooler for $59. So I'm in for over $2100 on a car that is worth $3,000 when it works.....
I'm planning on buying a new Radio for $265 that has navigation, and need new speakers apparently as these are 2 ohm speakers. And I was quoted $150 to install all this , so my paint faded 23 year old car that has been sitting all these years has come to life for about $2,500

and after seeing all these chips on the Internet for $69 and for $100 I thought that I might do it, but $250 on this old car is more than I wanted to spend. 40 more horse power is nice, but I was interested more in getting the 4-5 MPG improvement on consumption to save money that all these web sites are advertising. This car is so old that I'm afraid that by pushing its limits it will break apart.....

I would be happy to pay up to $100 can't afford more at this time. So I'm stuck I guess with stock chip..... Perhaps on eBay someone might sell a used one. These cars are so old, I can't imagine many chip sales in 2013. Perhaps someone will want to sell me one for cheap to get rid of inventory.

The gas tank smell is probably coming from the O-Ring. Did you replace the O-Ring when you replaced the fuel pump? Did you use a used pump (junkyard) or a new pump? If you didn't use a new O-Ring when you replaced the fuel pump (even if it "looked" OK) that's probably where it's coming from.

If you're getting rid of the bose you'll want to get rid of the whole thing, the amps are probably fried. If you don't mind the old stereo, you can often times find used amps from other cars that have a similar style bose and get back what you have..

The antenna can be fixed pretty easy, probably just needs a new mast.. 30 mins and like $20 will get that back in business.

Regarding the performance chip, with basically any performance chip you won't get 4-5MPG increase. I can go into why if you'd like, but the short answer is there's really nothing you can do to magically get 4-5MPG better. If you can get 20-22MPG on the highway, your Q is getting about as good of mileage as it can get. Some people have reported up to 23-24MPG but that's definitely on the high end. Getting 15MPG with mostly short trips and/or city driving is not uncommon.

And also, just so you know, those ECU's cost me considerably more than $100 to make, so if you can a real NICO ECU for $100, jump on it!

If I buy a chip it will be your chip I don't trust anyone else. I just can't afford one now. I would be happy to send my stock chip as a core to cut the chip cost. But it's still a 1990.... 23 years old. I remember paying Dynan on my brand new BMW $190 for the chip over 10 years ago... It will have to wait a year or two as I am leaving the country for a year or so.if there is a way to send my core and pay an additional $100 I would do it.

I bought a brand new pump. Aftermarket . Did it come with a new O ring? The guy who installed it for me should know.
Where is this o ring located? Can I buy one? Is there a picture anywhere on where to put it? What o ring should I look for when I buy one?

The new fuel pump likely did not come with the O-Ring. The O ring is located in between the fuel pump sending unit and the fuel tank. It sits in a little groove on the fuel tank. It's a common part for almost all Nissan/Infiniti of that year..

Welcome to the joys of Q ownership. No chip is going to give you 4-5 MPG mileage increase. Disconnecting one bank of your injectors and a stronger spring on the gas pedal might :D

And provided the screws are torqued incrementally in a star pattern to the correct specifications. If not, then all bets are off on a good seal.

How accurately does the gas gauge read?
