Did you even read the article that you posted? The shooting wasn't unprovoked, they said there was a dispute over using a deer stand on private property. Which means that they were probably arguing face to face...rousie13 wrote: I couldn't imagine being under fire while you try to hunt. Hmm... now that's f*d.nismofly wrote: he returned a short time later with the .50 cal sks semiauto and shot them in anger, because they chased him off.
yeah, if they had more, they coulda shot the ******* before he got the second or third shot off.180crafter wrote:You guys all know how I feel about guns....
LOL where did you get that from? the SKS is concidered a relic (made in soviet russia in the 50's, soviet sub-states and china in 60's and 70's) and was never made in 50 cal.nismofly wrote:he returned a short time later with the .50 cal sks semiauto and shot them
Don't forget that there is also a .50 caliber handgun round that doesn't look so monsterous.J-Spec Tuner wrote:The SKS uses standard russian 7.62X39mm, no where near the size of a .50 caliber round.
Here is a comparison of a 50 cal round next to handgun ammo to give you an idea: image removed to avoid being repetative

Whoa, that is one huge bullet. What is the recoil like shooting that thing off?J-Spec Tuner wrote:The SKS uses standard russian 7.62X39mm, no where near the size of a .50 caliber round.

Actually, its more like don't piss of somebody who isn't scared of killing you. Like what happened here, he came back with that gun.tractorcrusher wrote:

It's not like the guy just went out into the woods one day and started picking off hunters.
tip of the day: don't piss somebody off who's holding a rifle.
Well, all true except the 10 round fixed mag. I have one sitting in the next room with (aftermarket) pistol grip, synthetic folding stock, and a couple original 30 round bananna clips.J-Spec Tuner wrote:
Fixed 10 round magazine, wood stock, historic, old. You can buy this gun out of a magazine for less than $150 shipped right to your door with a curio & relic license.
That dude had some sick mental problems to shoot people over nothing.
Then your SKS isn't a factory original anymore. ALL SKS's came with a 10 round fixed magazine that required stripper clips to load. You COULD obtain a military issue 20 rd fixed magazine, but its still fixed and requires stripper clips to load. Any detachable mag is either aftermarket, or you don't have an SKS, you have some AK variant.MaineExport wrote:

It's a super cheap super fun rifle. It is also the most accurate, reliable, and consistant gun I've ever used. One of the clips has a crappy spring so it jams once in a while... but the rifle itself never jams and is as accurate on the 30th shot as it is on the 1st. A lot of semi-autos in its price range flex under that much heat and stress. Then again... they aren't designed to deliver that many rounds in a matter of 6 or 7 seconds!!!
Well, I just did a little research and discovered what we (it's my brothers gun... I just get to play with it) have is AK-47 clips. I guess I'm not understanding the "fixed magazine" part of what you're describing. The AK-47 "duck bill" magazines attach to the rifle without ANY modification. In all the pictures and descriptions I've seen the SKS comes with the 10 round mag that you mentioned... but it looks like it has a detachable stripper clip?BaliLover wrote:
