Can someone PLEASE do a write up of how to change the PCV valve?! Or at least a detailed step by step instruction.

It is somewhere in the how-to's that are stickied. At least I thought so, I know I have seen a write up before and pretty sure I saw it through that thread.

Here is a quick one from memory on how I do it (I do it every 30k):

*helps to do this with the engine slightly warm so the hoses and such are flexible'ish*

In case you don't know, the PCV valve is located at the front left corner of the engine (if you're standing at the very front of the car).

1) Take off all the engine covers
2) Undo the hose that goes to the intake manifold...you should be left with the PCV valve and the hose free.
3) Take off the other end of the hose (the one touching the PCV valve)
4) I don't have the tool to fit over the PCV socket...so I just take pliers and slowly unscrew the PCV valve itself.

Installation is reverse of removal. Make sure you screw it in good (that's what she said lol).

This is a picture from the oil change HowTo I made a while back...it's the black hose in between the two circled bolts. You can see in that picture that I already partially took it off. Just follow that hose to the other end for the actual PCV valve.

1) Unscrew PCV valve.
2) Screw new one in.

Excuse my ignorance on this matter but, why are so many people changing this Valve and what is the purpose of the PVC valve?

Apparently it is supposed to help with the fuel consumption and erratic idling...I think

You're not stupid. It's a regular maintenance item. You'll be able to tell the difference between a new PCV valve and one that has 30k on it (shake it and listen).

I am VERY meticulous with my maintenance which is why, at 100kmi, my car has had ZERO transmission or engine issues. None. The only issue I currently have or that is developing is my struts need to be changed (BC Coilovers are the plan).

Here is the link to the PCV HowTo I just made:
