Hi!

I did a search, and didn't see this topic addressed.

Wife has the 2013 with intellikey. I've seen pictures that show the ignition rotary switch as a closed nub. Her switch looks like an access cover has been taken off to reveal where the metal key would go (for whatever reason).

I do not know what the nomenclature of this part might be, and I can't seem to find it on the drawings at parts places online, neither have I found it in the manual.

Anybody know 1) If there should be a cover there, 2) What to call it and 3) Have you seen one?

Thanks!

PS - this is a picture online that looks very, very similar to what her car has:

The picture doesn't show in preview, and the system won't let me post the url to the image. Sorry

What's it called? Key hole cover? Do you know what's going to be involved in replacing it IF you do find it?

Fixed your image link. You're a new member so there's certain restrictions. Posting URL's is one of them. Here's the instruction for correctly posting images.

Thanks for responding!!

Installation?

My W-A-Guess is this: This was their interim no-key feature before they rolled out push-to-start, or whatever Nissan trademarks it as.

I think it should have come from the factory with a block (or, a permanent key) stuffed in the slot.

Hers looks like a standard key hole you stick something into.

You get in with the fob, push that in, and turn it. (shrugs) So, I am really confused as to why the metal key is even a 'thing'. It turns without anything in it at all. Maybe there's a chip in the chunk of plastic at the head?

I think someone popped the cover off to use the key hidden in the fob, and lost the cover.

So, I think all I will have to do is pop the cover back on.

Thanks for the help with the picture!
