It's crazy how you look at something and think it can't get any better, but then BAM!! - it's even nicer. Your quest for perfection is never-ending, Toby, and I admire that. When I get back into the States I'm going to be picking up a new Camaro and a hatch for a project car, and you're still going to be my role model as far as the S13 goes. And to think you took one of my suggestions (remember?)... I'm flattered!

Looks awesome! My newly acquired dash has that lustrous shine. Also used it on the SW21. Both look brilliant! And it doesn't leavean oily surface.

Thanks again!

Hey, Broadfield, beautiful car... Was hoping to get some advice with mine...

I have the standard Nardi Classic, new black carpet (although you can tell from the first picture I f-ed up my cuts for the center console, thankfully that is the only spot I messed up... I picked up custom upholstered rear seats off Craigslist for $100, and the only reason there is only the passenger side Sparco Torino (paid $400 for the pair) is the company I purchased rails from managed to send me a Mitsu Eclipse rail for the drivers side. So both seats will be matching by next week. Also, an S14 manual seatbelt conversion.

Electronics- I modded front and rear speaker brackets for 6 1/2" so I have good JBLs at all 4 corners with a 350.4 Kicker amp, and eventually (2) 12" Xtants and a 750 watt Zapco.

So I would like to get rid of the glovebox and door panel tweed, and probably soften up the center console too for the arm rest. The black Bride fabric is awesome, and would kind of match the rear seats, but I am thinking having Bride fabric trim and Sparco seats = Rice

Purely on the basis of mis-matching brand names, or am I over-thinking it? The Sparco's are dark blue, my Nikon sucks though so its hard to tell. So I was thinking dark blue fabric for the trim, which may or may not go that well with black. Plus I am hesitant to start ripping off other peoples ideas, since I think it degrades the creativity.

Why do you have a racing bucket on the passenger's side, and an oem s14 bucket on the drivers?

Well, you are not giving me much to work with here. You have already "shot yourself in the foot" with your choices of interior items. You have chosen some mismatched items, and as an after thought, want to try and tie them altogether. First off the rear seat doesn't match anything in the car. Which is fine if you were going to match the front seats and other items to it. However, you have dark blue front seats that are going to be the focal point of the interior of the car. Keep in mind that dark blue and black is a fashion faux pas. So not exactly the best choice. A brighter blue would be fine of course. So since you are most likely not going to get rid of the Sparcos, then we need that rear seat reupholstered to match them. Then simply some matching material for the cards, glove box, center console etc. This would be an acceptable setup, but not great in the color department. I am obviously going to tell you to ditch the dark blue seats and get something in a different color. It's really going to come down to what your budget is and what your long term plans are for the car.

Argh! Good advice, although it cuts so deep.

I figured as much, I should have held out for another color on the front seats. Freaking impulse purchases!

The good thing is that I should be able to flip the Civic rails the seats came with, and either trade the blue Sparco seats for black (my preference) or sell them and buy what I should have in the first place. And then since the center trim on the rear seats has a nice texture and look to it (in my opinion), I plan on trying to find something as close as possible (if not the same) for the door cards and other interior pieces. If I can't find something matching, everything will get re-upholstered in the same style of fabric.

That way, the front seats will clearly look aftermarket (black fabric but different texture from the rest of the car) and the door cards, glovebox, and rear seats will all look OEM-ish. I like the look of the cloth/leather trim on the rears, although I am not sure why. It just makes it look more expensive

My budget is roughly $500-$1000 per month for the car, and my plan was to recreate the car I had in high school (that sucked, 66 Mustang with a 120hp inline 6) but do it correctly and have it be Japanese. Meaning nothing in this car is going to be low-end crap or knock-off parts.

Stayed tuned for more updates as I ruin a perfectly good s13

You took my advice like a champ! Just let me know if you have any more questions on anything. Sounds like you have a good game plan and are going to do the right thing in the end. I always admire a man that admits he's wrong or admits he didn't necessarily do the right thing the first time around.

Ok, so finally found a nearly new set of BLACK Sparco's, haven't messed around with the door panels due to being slammed with school stuff + work. Here are the shots, taken with my new camera, a Panasonic ZS3. The car also has an Autopage alarm in it now due to some a-holes that broken into it twice within 1 week.

Put new tension rods in this weekend, easy job as soon as I found a breaker bar for the stuck nuts.

Proceeds from selling the blue Sparco's went to buying some decent offset "winter" tires and wheels. Ya, I know the weight on these 962's suck, but it was cheaper than buying new tires for my crap offset 4-lugs.

And lastly, a few shots off the deck of my apartment...

My dash so far is uncracked, I'm afaid that the material the dash is wrapped maybe dried out and using some kind of care product will dry it out further causing it to crack. Should I try using Protect One?

how'd the back seats come out?

your car is one of the very few things wet dreams are made up of! It also happens to be my new desktop.

Decent interior Trigjones, but there is one very ugly thing in there. That giant automatic lever. Swap that for manual.

I like the automatic only because of the horrid hills we have in Seattle, but I want a manual so bad... My 66 Mustang had a 3-speed

The joy of having a non-disposable income. I suppose without the seats, rims, and tension rods I could have bought an SR20 and done the install myself, although I doubt it could be done with just jack stands and a couple of socket sets.

The next project is filling the gap between the top and bottom rear seats (just gotta trim the carpet so the rear seat can clip down).

On the rear tires for the new wheels, the size is 255/45/17. Anyone know if that will fit? I don't mind it being 4x4 status for the moment, or if the speedo is a few MPH off, but I can't really afford new tires right now(BF Goodrichs are gonna be $160 each)

Says who? I have a socket set, some open end wrenches, a breaker bar, jack & jack stands. I swapped KA for another KA. But you don't need any special tools for KA -> SR. If you think you do, go buy it or ask some mechanics if you can rent the tool. Most will do it.

Hey Broadfield.

I just been looking through this thread and am amazed on what you can do with the boring crappy inside of a s13! So much that im kinda inspired to work on my interior now! I thought its a good idea since cops will screw me over if i change the exterior!

I wanna use leather instead of the fabric you used. Do you reckon its possible? I have a fair amount of leather where i work so amount is no problem but was wondering of you had an idea if its just as possible as how you have done yours.

Cheers mate!
