Right on Pito! I am also from the fussy installation school.

Shelley: I hope it's some "good" metal for your collection! And two big cheers for taking that console out. Clean the sensor and Keep us posted.

Pito and Squeefoo...

I can't tell if the speakers have been changed. Doesn't look like it, but I can see where the wires to the back speakers have been spliced to the amp add-on. There aren't any other wires coming out of the amp, so I'll assume that the rest of the speakers are safe.

The stereo looks like the factory installed unit, although it has no Bose label. Radio sounds good, IMHO.

I do miss having CDs to play (but, Jesda, NPR ain't all that bad), and my kiddo misses them even more. When/if you guys generate offspring, I highly recommend the band Trout Fishing In America. Much more fun than Metallica, no matter what age you are.

If they are bose speakers they will say bose on them and would be visible from the bottom.

It is possible to have the factory radio with aftermarket speakers but not bose speakers with aftermarket radio.

Simply because the bose speakers are not regular speakers

Correct me if wrong but I think they are 1 ohm speakers that is why the bass is so clear and strong and low levels.

The stereo itself is made by Clarion. Just the speakers and amps are Bose -- thank god. Can you imagine if Bose made the whole car?

The trout people are interesting, but I'm going to stick with Brooks & Dunn. :D

Y'know, Jesda, you *made* me go surfing for details about Keith and Ezra, and that's how I learned that these boys are from HOUSTON. Shucks... no wonder they're so talented!

You've gotta get better pics and historical details on their website (http://www.troutmusic.com).

Now this Q thread is on a wild digression! But hey, I'm enjoying it...

My 11 y.o. offspring likes The Frank, HATES Britney or any goat ropers, loves Frank Zappa (the music not the words) any Classical (mostly Baroque) and Tool, APC and Level 42 . I am hopeful for her musical future, and continued good taste during it.

FVZ will eventually get credit for his work.

My wife hated it, my friends think I'm a half-bubble off plumb for having a bunch of CD's.

Being misunderstood, so I'm told, is the sign of true genuis.

I can't imagine what my daughter will be listening to five years from now. She's only six, and she already likes Shania Twain. And some of the more exotic-sounding Sting tunes that mommy plays.

Another fun CD for kids (and parents) on long drives: Philadelphia Chickens. You'll find it in a bookstore with Sandra Boynton titles. The music is addictive, the lyrics are really funny, and kids like reading along with the book (an educational fringe benefit). The singers are hollywood folks like Kevin Kline, Meryl Streep and Kevin Bacon.

:chicken :chicken :chicken You can get it on Amazon pretty cheap.

Don't keep it too simple, mix in some complexity. I'm sure you've seen the studies about right-left brain activity improvement, spatial reasoning, and more. If you like to read -a good one is " The Mozart Effect" by Don Campbell. Speaking ; or rather writing of Mozart -some good ones are Piano Concerti #'s 18, 19, 21, & 22. Bach Klavierconzerte w/ Andrei Gavrilov. They have proven very useful for bed/naptime. Fun little experiments that can only be beneficial and helpful, while fostering musical appreciation. This ad has been brought to you by the makers of....

edit: Missed the comment about Sting = good stuff.Know how he got that name? When the Police first started to play, he would always wear a yellow and black shirt for luck, I guess it stuck.
