Regardless, Fred can get a ticket from greyhound for $100 and it will take him home. He is around stroudsburg "sp???" right now. Fred is a big boy, he can take care of himself. I am gonna call him in a couple of minutes though.

Guys, just talked to him! He is on a bus to Phili, then the greyhound will take him. For all of you that have his cell, please don't call him, he is running out of minutes, and its his work phone and he dosen't want to get in trouble. We talked real quick about getting a uhaul flatbed from Louisville and driving back up to Penn. to get his car. Would be alot cheaper. He also missed the insurance guy but he did get a message. He says the insurance guy sounds to be pretty cool. He is calling me when he makes it home. Thats all I know for now.

Geez..... hate to see to good ones go!!!

I know a lot of people talk about buying the car back from the insurance company. I guess that means they pay whatever the junkyard would have paid for it.

As much as Fred loves the Q, he might not want another one. Sometimes you just have to say "thanks for the memories" and move on. Dealing with a totalled car is not a fun experience, and even if insurance is generous with their settlement, it will never cover a "fair value" for a car that's had a lot of work, whether preventative or mods.

After you've been in an accident (I have) the what-if cloud is always looming over you and you have second thoughts about driving an older car that's worth a lot less to the rest of the world that it is to you.

I got rid of collision and comprehensive on my '92 Q at 181K miles -- if something happens, I just want to be done with it and move on.

Still, with the mods he has, if there's anything at all salvageable, it'd be worthwhile to buy it for the scrap price and part it out.

I hope he holds on to his for parts.... 7 new injectors are worth $1000 in parts alone! Fred, when you read all of this, if you're going to move towards another Q, "Q1" will be ready to go in a few weeks. I can rush that as needed, just let me know and we can work something out. You could probably convert it to a tan interior (from it's current black on grey) if you wanted to keep your new leather - that's the one flaw with mine - some cracking on the seats. I know I've been singing this song for a while, but I finally got the fuel tubes replaced on "Q2" last week, so that was the big hold-up.

he could scrap the heck out of it. the TCU, ECU, springs, struts(if still good after this), sway bars, interior, injector, exhaust. Or just pull the motor, do some crazy work to it and transplant it into something else...mwhahaha

I've got some beaters for sale to drive in the meantime! And a nice Q45t if he decides to go with a different car. Only 57k miles!

I've already emailed him about the Q45t that is on our lot. We'll see. Has anyone gotten an update on his status?

Thanks for all the kind words folks!

Got home about an hour ago, after a 37 hour greyhound trip.I got to see a lot of salty americana along the way.

Anyway, my home number is (502) 9684728.I will be a lot here since I dont have a car roight now.A couple of you mentioned beaters you knew or good Q's.I dont have all your numbers and dont feel like email tag right now so plz call.

Looks like the Insurance may let me have my Q for only $500, so even if transport cost $$ it would still be worth to bring it home.

Adjuster says est repair cost $7200 ( I suspect higer to get it <right>), and is low balling me right now on the payout.I intend to buy a $500 beater in the next few days and yes I intend to buy another Q.

a fix would cost me transport to KY (wont work with a shop that knows I'll never see them again)+ I might have only a fraction of the needed rpair money from insurance.I am a bit low on $$ and even with my Jan 1st paycheck may not be able to buy a new Q right away, may need to wait to 1 feb paycheck. This applies especially when the expaense of bringin Q homeis deducted.

Folks:The Q was gorgeous. it ran pERFECT like Q45techs car, when they were finally done with it and had put no small extras into it.Including new rear lights, and replacing my door handles and door handle cover with onbes from a 90 with contrasting anthacite like therest of my interior. When that as done I fell in love with the car all over again.:(

Anyway, Thanks to all and especially those who helped soo much Q45tech, Rubin and everyone else!:thumbup.

Fred...:)

Man Fred!

I'm sorry to hear about your accident. Glad you're OK though. You gotta get another Q or get the old one up and running - I need another Infiniti to go up against @ Beech Bend ;) !

Anyways, good luck with insurance and all and hope it all works out for you.
