Another thread reminded me that at one time I wanted to paint my calipers but was talked out of it as too much of a 'wannabe' thing.

Still like the looks of it and would think it would look nice on my black coupe.

So.... paint, or not to paint, this is the question.

(Definitely don't mean this to be a slam on the other poster so be nice with your comments since I'm only borrowing his images for discussion sake; photo credits: WhiteyClay)

I say paint 'em! The color depends on your car's color...

Blue and yellow, sure.... but how 'bout red calipers on a black car? I would think black on black might not "pop" the calipers enough.

Although black on black, huh.... (*thinking*)..... that might looks sorta sharp..... hmmmmm.......

I personally hate the look of painted sliding calipers ... now if they were fixed, that would be another story.

I've always thought that painting them was sort of stupid and "wannabe"-ish in the fact that your trying to fool people into thinking you have something you don't.

If you must paint them, I suggest powder coating them instead as it'll last longer and still shine after years of use.

it doesnt right. just look at it. the stock calipers are too rough and rounded. and the color looks a little orange.

brembos look a lot better. it's not just the color, but the shape and metallic smooth texture of the caliper.

If you have a g35 and can't afford true baller brakes (like stoptech or at least some used brembo's) then you shouldn't even buy an acura. I suggest you buy a honda civic and paint those calipers red. Then paint the rear drums red ftw

Anybody know if the Brembos from an earlier G will fit on an '06?

I believe they will fit...but costly!! Personally, I'd rather have the new 08 coupe calipers

I only ask because someone just had some used ones for sale... something like $1400 if I recall.

Just wondered if they would fit and if this would be truly an upgrade, downgrade, or "latteralgrade".

Can't imagine the stock '06 calipers being as good as, say, the '03 Brembo pkg. Could be wrong though....

some people cant afford 2000 Gs for a brake kit. and its not to fool people.its for looks. Looks way bettter then unpainted.and about POWDER COATING. You need to disconnect brake lines take calipers off send them to a shop to powder coat. wait a week and then paint them, and put them on.I had a A4 1.8t and I did the same thing just painted the calipers, 5 years later paint was still there and shined after you cleaned it.Never use the spray on calipers, use a can and a brush that you can buy at pepboys or autozone. It costs 15 bucks and lasts a long time

LOL not if they're trying to catch me in a g35. Sigh...alas, I'm not a baller. But at least I run upgraded brakes. (By upgraded I do NOT mean painted)

Your "upgrade"brake worth as much as your 11 years old car.

As you can see most people think it is good to paint the calipers.

LOL and my LIGHTWEIGHT "11 year old car" with its "worthless" 4 piston fixed front and 2 piston fixed rear brakes will OUT BRAKE your "new" HEAVY *** tank with its WORTHLESS "painted" single piston sliding calipers all day long haha

Anyways, this post is going nowhere. I apologize for my comments.

It's just that IMHO if you're gonna roll in a g35 you have a certain image to carry. Painting calipers is something that honduh owners do simply because they can't afford the real goods.

Painting your calipers IMHO says "Look, I got approved for a loan for a g35, but after the car and insurance payments, I can't afford anything else!" Just my 2 cents.

I apologize also. The reason I put it down because you had your opinion earlier in this tread. Fine no problem but then you just keep coming back with it over. I guess message was delivered.

I'm not a huge fan of the painted brakes, but it's not like a phart can strapped to the back or a double/triple snowboard wing mounted on the deck lid either.

I would give it a if it looked good.

I wouldn't think they are a 'wannabe', they are just going for the look. Most people won't really need the stopping power of aftermarket brakes anyway.

You are right. I've seen premium brake for my car. I never even considered to buy one. I like my brake. I think after couple of years the factory looks crappy. But if you have a nice clean painted one that would be a different story and if that cost you only$20.00 and 2-3 hours well it is a bonus. Sure I would not put Red on my black car but a nice black one or silver toned.

Norm FTMFW lmaoo how ya been man!?

eh, i have upgraded brakes as well, so i see the reason to have painted them, plus the color they came in was pathetic (yellow... dont ask) but if its stock, and thats all you have done to your car, dont yet.... but if u plan on nice wheels and a better setup in the future go for it!!!

again, don't paint it. stock calipers don't look good painted at all. no matter what car it's on. especially from the way it looks.

stick with brembos.

this is the first time i see someone with a 240sx talkin' big words on a G35 forum to bunch of G35 owners....not that owning a G35 is a big baller or anything..

i have a G35 and i too like the painted calipers simply because it looks good on a black car...

prolly it's just me not being a true car enthusiast... but i dont really see a point of spending a few grands on a StopTech big brake kit or somethign fancy.. for me.. OEM brake system does its job ..... i'd rather spend that money on a nice watch or a nice brandname winter coat since its cold up here in Canada....

so i guess in your eyes i should sell my G35 and go back to a Honda Civic since i cant outbrake your ferrari-like braking system.....
