If you're talking about me, I could have bought a g35 with cash. I decided on the 240 because it was a lot cheaper and I fixed up the 240 with the money I saved. In the end I have a car that is more unique because I personaly built it more than I could have built a g35. It's all personal choice. I prefer building a less expensive but well balanced high performance car over prestige because in the end I get to piss off a lot of people who spent a lot more on their cars.
Why? Because yes it does seem that g35 owners seem kind of snobby. They come to 240 meets with an attitude and keep to themselves. The only exception is if they see a nice 240. Otherwise, they seem to write us off. Why come at all? To "show up" 240 owners? That's kind of gay don't you think?
Personally I think you are doing the same exact thing right now only in a different "venue." I mean, you are a 240 owner... you don't own a G obviously, so what do you do? Lurk in other forums looking for a chance to bash someone with a car that they love? I haven't posted as much since I had my accident, but I had an 03 Coupe, and I almost never went to any other forum other than this one. Why? Because it doesn't have anything to do with me, I owned a G. Of course now I am sure you are going to say that now I am being a snob cause I had a G, sure go ahead. But that simply isn't true, I hang out with guys at work who all have "ricers" and I admire the work they have done to their cars with respect instead of sticking with my buddy who also had a G. I'm not saying that if you don't own a G you can't come to this forum, but if you are only going to come to this forum and bash, maybe you SHOULD leave. And I'd also like to point out that you have a "snobbish" attitude as well, what with all the, "I talk ish because I can" and "IMHO this" or "IMHO that." There was nothing humble about anything you said. And it is even MORE snobbish to throw around the fact that, oh, I had enough money to buy cash or *remembers and old post* post a picture of your sales receipt with the amount of money you paid or put down on a car. Who gives a rat back side how much money you have or don't have? Some people my not HAVE the money to pay for cash but can definitely afford financing and would much rather have a car they LIKE rather than settle for something they really don't want just cause they can't "pay for it in cash."
As to my opinion on the original question posed by this thread. In the end, I think that you should ask yourself how do YOU feel about painted calipers? Do YOU like how it looks? If yes, than who cares what others think? Some people don't like the look of Vertical doors or body kits on G's and say that THAT is ricerish, but you know what, I was going to do it to my car, cause that's what I liked. And I was ALSO thinking about painting my brake calipers too, with the intent to upgrade to Stoptech in the future.
