Hello
i have read the newer model R51 has this problem quite often, but how is it with the R50? Is a new gas filler cap an option to solve the problem? I replaced the fuel sender unit a while ago. Could it be, that the o-ring for the fuel sender and fuel pump unit causes this problem? its a while ago that i replaced the fuel sender unit, and I know the P0455 error was pending (but i am not sure if it was pending before or after i replaced the fuel sender unit), Now, after a couple of months I recognized the pending code, the service engine soon light turned on and the code is confirmed.
Thank you for your help

It's unfortunately not uncommon on the R50s.

It's recommended that when you open the fuel tank to replace one of the items in there, that you replace the o-ring gasket. If you didn't, it may be worthwhile to do it now since it's fairly accessible. If not, a new gas cap may fix it as well. Beyond that, take a look at your filler neck and evap system and see if you see any cracked hoses or the like. If everything checks out, do a search for other P0455 threads (like this one) for more advanced troubleshooting. The charcoal in the EVAP system breaks down over time and can get lodged in valves, propping them open.
