I just recently put my engine back into my car after a long rigorous battle of replacing the head gasket and installing a new clutch assembly. It ran decent, needs a tune, for about 30-40 miles then it died and will not start.

What i have checked:Fuel delivery is presentSpark is presentCompression test ran 150psi on all four cylinders (cold)

What i think is wrong:It is to my belief that this is due to an electrical issue. When the vehicle died on me, it was due to me "kickin it side wayz" as soon as i let off the e-brake to give her gas she was dead. My guess is that a wire came loose somewhere, but given my "lack of" background knowledge regarding any motor's electrical system i do not know where to start.

So if anyone has any helpful idea/hints i am open ears (Would hooking up a simple OBG hand held device tell me anything? i am refering to the ones that can be borrowed from schuck's auto shop, sorry idk what the device is exactly, i am a noob.)

Much appreciated,Chio

Get you a multimeter and check the 12v and ground signals that go to the ECU. Constant and switched 12v sources, and all grounds (there are something like seven of these?).

It sucks but sometimes its all you can do. I had to do it a few times, just plan on spending a whole Saturday trying to figure it out.

So does it crank and not start? Does it sputter? Does it make any attempt to start at all? Does it just go "click?"

You could use one of those scanner things if you had an OBD-II car, but alas you have OBD-0, so in that respect you are totally f***ed. Enjoy spending a whole day under the dash with a multimeter. Oh, I suggest recruiting a very good, patient friend too.

Thanks ! I found the culprit, a burnt out fuse labeled, eng. cont. (engine control?) i installed a new one and now it fires right up. At an idle it seems to stumble a little, but that i will adress in the future
