Here is the contact info to HeavyThrottle who can rewire the wiring harness:http://www.Heavythrottle.com

To remove the stock harness is quite simple. Simply find a large rubber gromet on the passenger side firewall and follow it until it starts to branch off. From there you should see multiple plugs and just unplug them. Make sure you take picutres to remind yourself where they go. Next go into the cabin, unbolt your ECU and unplug the harness. Loosen the intake box by unbolting it and pulling it out towards you, this giving you a little space between the inside firewall and intake box. Find the large plug under the dash behind the intake box and unplug that as well. Also there are some little pugs you'll have to unplug under the dash. After that, go back outside and pull the rubber gromet out from the engine bay and you should be able to pull the wiring harness out with it. Do it slowly and carefully as you can easily break or tear some wires. It's easier if you have someone pulling on the harness while somebody elses is on the inside feeding it through. You'll have to unbolt some stuff to get the harness completely out of the engine bay. Hope that helps :D

sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I was reading some threads on freshalloy about Osaka and they were all negative. But those of you that have bought your engines from them, how did it turn out? I know there were a couple.

I bought my engine form Osaka, but I live in Ottawa, drove there, looked at all the motors thay had and picked mine out.

It came with cut harness, no igniter, no MAF, no IC, cut hoses, dented pan, was dirty as hell, but was cheap and I got a ECU.

I built my own harness using the cut portion, and the stock KA harness - this was about 40 hours work.

The S14 motor sets that they have sold recently have been clip take outs, that's why they were complete.

I know that HT offers a harness service, but I think that's if you have a full SR harness. You need to supply it and your KA harness and they modify the SR harness to fit LHD, lengthen it etc. They have told other people that have asked that they MUST have a complete SR harness to start with.

The compression on my motor was low on one cyl. when I got it. We squirted some lubricating spray in teh cyl, cranked it a few times with the plug in and it started to come up. My mechanic said it was just a stuck valve from sitting around. It's running really strong now, I've put 5000kms (~3500 miles) on it since Jan 4th. Hasn't burnt any oil, or missed a beat.

Ok so I bought a cheap motor, did all the scrounging around for missing parts, spent 40 hours building a wiring harness.I also have three other cars so didn't have to get it done to drive to work.

Would I go the "cheap" route again? Probably, but I now know how to do the wiring. Would I recommend anyone else to go the "cheap" route? No, not unless you can figure out the wiring... $1100 + $400 (harness) +$250 (igniter) + MAF ? + hassle + hassle + hassle.

Depends what it's worth to you.

-Martin.
