Alright, I finally got enough money to get some inexpensive wheels but OMG. It never occured to me I'd have this much trouble making a choice. I'm very interested in used ones so I can maximise my $$. On the other hand there's not a whole lot out there that 1) I like and 2) has an offset and size that'll work well with our 240's. To make it harder I'm also looking for something a little different maybe from the popular ones that most everyone seems to have.

Moving along...I found these 17" locally, used, brand new in the box, and I can probably get 'em for $400. The offset unfortunately is 40. Aklso they're chrome which I didn't used to like but lately have come to.

Anyway, I was just hoping for some opinions. Do you like? Do you think they'd look good? Do you think it's a good price? What do you think of the 40 offset? That sort of thing. Thanks in advance and here they are...

PS. Once I get some I will be selling my oem chromies if anyone's interested. Just thought I'd let you know.

They look really sharp. I like the design a lot!

As for the offset.. 40 isn't the best. They will look a little sunken in the fenders. But.. not so much that the average person will think they look bad. Only a true 240 enthusiest will really notice that they don't stick out far enough...

You could remedy that with some spacers though...

Price is right!!! That's really cheap!

What are you looking for size and width? I've seen a lot of decent priced wheels on RBmotoring and takumiproject lately.

I will always stay away from chrome. But that style doesn't look bad, minus the chrome finish.

I would really recommend some SA3s I've seen lately, black centers with red lip. But they are almost always staggered (usually 7" front, 8" rear).

What's the width? Looks like 7 to me. Well, I would recommend at least 8 inch width for the 17 inch wheel on a vert, but they will work okay. You can use spacers to push them out, but you will have to replace studs or get H&R hub centric spacers. Spokes remind of NSX wheels BTW.

I like the style, but I'm not a big fan of shiny on S13s because S13s do not have many chrome parts on them. They do seem to be a pretty good deal, though.

My favorite wheels I've seen on S13s are Rota Grids, Advan SA3Rs, and Watanabes.

not a bad looking wheel, though the level of sunk will reach that of Pearl Harbor. If you are really disastisied with your chrome SE's to the point where ud rather leave it on bricks, do it. Other wise I say keep shoppin' just my .02 though

I ran into this eBay seller today, and he has a ton of nice used JDM wheels. I think this seller has JDM wheels more than RBMortoring does. Well, if you don't mind used wheels, maybe you can find a decent set of 17 inches here. He has 'Best Offer' option on every auction, so you might give it a try.

Yep, I've decided to keep shopping. I've also decided I think I want Sportmax 942's in chrome. They're kind of like the ever-popular 962's only they have rivets around the outside and the inside cross bracing curves downward as it heads towards the edges. Hard to explain so here's a pic...

In fact here's a real quick photoshop image I whipped up to give myself an idea how they'd look once the car was dropped a bit. It sold me.

Thanks for the link 92_240sx. It's now down to 2; theone above and this one...

Look decent, but they are just too heavy. Weight is the last thing a vert needs.

Glyph i'll be honest. I'm not really feeling the rims. I like deep dish rims. But that's just me.

BTW, have you seen the Volk CE28 Time Attacks? I think they'll look awesome on your vert.

I plan on going with the TE37 Time Attacks sometime in the future...God I hate being broke. (I hope nobody gets them on a vert before me but oh well)

Biggie......Huh? Why too heavy? Why would they be any heavier than everyone elses wheels? Especially since I'm only going with 17's not 18's. Besides I only weigh 155. How heavy can they be? Elaborate please.

Topless....I guess our tastes are just different. The pic was really hard to see in the link you sent me but I'm not a big fan of black rims (except on black cars and maybe white). And what do you mean "deep dish"? I thought that referred to the lip around the edge (usually polished) which I also like which is why both the ones I chose have it. Am I mistaken?

I know the 962s are 26-27lbs each, I'm assuming these are close to the same. A 17 inch wheel, should be in the 17-20lb each area. Remember that weight in the wheel area will cause the car to be slugish in acceleration and braking.

Well that definitely makes sense but...lol since this is just my daily driver (no hotrodding, drifting, track days etc.) wouldn't the weight become secondary to my liking the look? Especially when I can rationalize it with the weight I've saved from the door pillar mod etcetera? Hmm, but then there's all the sound deadening material and stereo equipment I've added...but on the other hand, my current girlfriend's quite fit so....where does it end?

You are correct. I was referring to the rims in your first post. I do like the 942's...not sure about the other 3 spoke ones though.

Here's another suggestion I'm throwing out there for you. The Volk GT-S. I'd love to see how they look on a vert.

Not a 240 vert, but just an idea of what they look like on a car.

FYI: for clarification the SA3s I mentioned earlier. They are staggered and a little too much for a DD for me ($550) or I'd have them. Think they'd be great on a red vert.

to get technical on people.... the correct term would be "Deep Lip" because lip refers to the outter portion of the wheel that is usually polished compare to the face of the wheel

Now, if you follow Japanese wheel make definitions "Dish" actually refers to the shape of the face (i.e. convex, flat, or concave) A "Deep Dish" wheel would have a nice concave look to the wheels, like the bigger TE37's or the Nismo LMGT4's

back on topic though... I like the Tri-Force wheels (i think they are the Zelda's) I've always had a thing for tri spokes though, had a set on my coupe... i miss that thing sometime...

+40 will look like crap those wheels are ***... ADR's suck anyway I had a set once. I have the MB motorsports weapon, both those and the competition come in great sizes for the 240 (I run 17x9 +27 front, +17 rear) and they are super super cheap, wholesale only $104 per wheel for 17x9's.

If you don't want to roll you can do 17x9 +27 all around.

I love competition in gun metal color. Yeah, you can go 5-lug and get them. It's a great bang for the buck.

They must have more than one. Cause a couple of the other listings had links to RB.

Yup! It looks like RBMotoring has another eBay ID. I checked RBMotoring's website and they sure have a lot of good looking wheels.

If I get a job before those are sold I'd count on seeing them on my car.

I supposedly have a mint set of these being delivered tomorrow. If they arrive in good shape, I'll test fit them as soon as I can and put up pics.

What size did you get? I would think the 17x7/8 with +32/+38 should fit pretty good. But again I'd prefer non-staggered for my Vert as its a DD and would want wider if it were a 'project' with more power.
