My car is currently at stock ride height with S15 Front end conversion.Looks ghey bein so high off the ground.

I used to have a civic hatchback with skunk2 coilovers, but when I hit bumps the car would slam up and down. Shocks weren't blow either just weren't meant for that height I guess.

Opinions on best suspension for street?FYI my job has speed bumps btw.And the dirt road I live on is pretty crazy too.

I heard shock/spring combo?

What's major difference in ride feel in comparison with coilover? Is there a coilover with the same ride feel as a aftermarket shock/spring combo?

you have many options regarding your suspension set-up

you have kyb GR-2's which are like brand new stock shocks but a tad bit stiffer, or you have kyb agx's which are adjustable for stiffness. you also have brands like gab, tockio, ohilns, etc for shock options, of course these won't lower your car, just stiff'n her up a bit, the type of spring you go with is what really is key, you have options like tein s-techs ( currently what I have), swift, RS*R, etc. I would suggest using a spring/shock set-up if your car is most used for Daily Driving

you can go with koni's yellows which are like a "street" coilover

you have all kinds a brands of coilovers, but you need to decide if its really what you want as it is a big investment and so forth. with coils you are going to scarfice alot of ride comfort, but once again you need to decide your plans for your car, but personally I think a good spring/strut combo would be your best bet. a fav. combo that seems to be on Nico is tein s-techs with KYB agx's

I think what he meant by plans is what you plan to do with your car.. i.e. track, drag, street, etc..

anyways, get coilovers, they aren't as bad as everyone hypes them up to be. If youre worried about comfort, look for a spring rate of like 7/5 or somewhere close to that.

duuude... every now and then I see people part out dope asss cars for whatever reason... I've seen used coils sell for like $400. If theyre not blown... why not? my buddy got a set of some jdm tyte Cusco Coilovers for $500 used at some shop here in socal, my cousin picked up a set of JIC coils for like 550, and I got my HKS hypermax II's for like $600 with like 10k miles on them... you just gotta be on the lookout, lol

YO! your in RockHill.Im in Spartanburg man..

I think youll want coilovers... i mean being able to adjust your ride hight is a must.. but it depends on what you plan yo do with your car.

if you plan on going with AGX's chances r that they might blow on lowering springs like eibachSportlines.. cuz their so low.

if you plan on getting coilovers look for a coilover that you can adjust dampning to your liking

i dotn know about 240's so much but i have been on Bilstien PSS coils on my jetta for like thre years now. 2 in the first jetta and about a year and a half in the VR6. i drive it everyday with no problem. they actually feel a bit soft to me now, tho everybody i know says they feel stiff to them, lol. i cant adjust the shock stiffness on mine (thos are the PSS9's), but if you get a set that you can, they will be just fine for daily street driving. you will get used to they very quickly. i mean, if i can drive everyday with coils on florida roads (which are all underconstruction ), you should be ok.

Well it's just that back when I owned a EG I had bad experiences with coilovers car would bounce and almost lose control cuz the dampers werent adjustable I guess. Just wanted to get some opinions going before I throw $600-$1200 at a suspension setup.

Yea I ordered all the parts for the swap before the motor. Intercooler was only on car for 1 day so I could check alignment of lower part of s15 core support. Also I went ahead and trimmed the parts of the bumper that's touching the intercooler so I can fit the mesh on when it gets here.I also finally welded the lower portion of the core support on seeing as how the intercooler fit pretty nice.I'm either going to have to do some custom piping when I drop in the S14 motor or cut a big circle in the frame rail to run the piping. S14/S15 piping normally runs thru a hole in the frame rail on the S14/S15 chasis which doesn't exist on the 240sx/s13 chasis.

Best tool for getting a straight cut on bumper? I drew lines with a diagraph pen and used a dremel with a cut off wheel.

Anything better than that?

well first off, what kind of coils did you have? also, civics are pretty light, too stiff of a coil will make a light car bouce crazy. plus, like what was said before, you have to watch your spring rates.

Was at Petlovers weekend before last until the cops ran us off then we all went to Freeman's. I don't hang around rock hill much though. I'm either at my house working on the car, at work, or in Charlotte.

Was Skunk2 on the EG. If I jacked the car up there was about 4-5 inches of vertical play between top of the strut tower and the spring. I just didn't like hitting a bump and the car go flying off the springs. Especially that bump on I-485 eastbound when you cross over that over pass after you pass the mall.I'm a big fan of real tight suspensions like when you push down on the car it doesn't move much, and when you jack the car up the wheels only move like an inch or 2 from when there was weight on it.

Think I'm going with theseKsport Kontrol Pro Fully Adjustable Coiloverhttp://intensepower.com/kskoprofuadc.html

What you guys think about those? And how come 36 way adjustable dampers are cheaper than 8 way?Seems to me it should be the other way around in price?

ah, ok. you had those type of coils i hate. the ones i have are threaded body shocks or struts. the spring stays seated for the most part.

Ordered the Ksport Kontrol coilovers from intense and they came in last week. I installed them at about noon today. I gotta raise the front about and inch and the rear about 1.5 inches. I live on a dirt road and was scraping real bad in some places. Will finish adjustment and take pictures tomorrow.

These coilovers are the best thing since sliced bread! Scraping aside, the handling for my S13 has improved 200% IMO.And the weight transfer is great. Also the suspension is tight. When I jack the car up the wheels drop down only 1 inch!!!Spring perch adjustment makes it so there's no unsprung weight as well.

Any advice on damper adjustment?Currently have it adjusted to the hardest setting. Almost shakes my fillings loose on bad roads, but the feeling of wide open throttle while taking the curved acceleration ramps on the interstate is better than sex. Wheels used to scream when I did that before along with the whole car leaning to the side. All that has been eliminated. This upgrade which cost only $700 is worth way more than my $2000+ S15 conversion. Gotta get me a racing harness next to hold me in the seat

Now we start the count down until they blow *knock on wood*

Up here in Vancouver BC where the roads are decent/under construction, a couple people have had bad experiences with KSports. Chance of them blowing are a mystery, but when they do, KSport pretty much tells you to take it in the ***. Just something to think about.

I'm not telling you to take em off right away since you seem to be enjoying them, but I just wanted to give you a heads up.

Good Luck!

People said the same about Tein's too.If they blow at least they only cost around 600. Instead of Tein's costing more than twice as much with same chance of blowing.

What do you guys recommend for nice street coilovers, My current setup is gheeeetto. I had to replace both rear struts that were badly blown, the thing is is that the car is sitting on some cheap as$ sleeveovers when I bought the car. I got some KYB gr2 struts to install but the lower seats for the springs wouldnt fit, its kinda complicated but if you were to lift the car, there would be a good 4 inches b/w the top of the spring and the top mount. When I drive it, the springs hit the mount and make a loud metal to metal hammering noise bc of the freeeplay.

Ive been wanting new decent coilovers for a while and am tired of hearing that siht, and its unsafe. Looking to spend 800-900 $..recomendations??

btw that s15 conv. is sikass
