I am doing a custom set with a kA24 on a Datsun 510. My question is regarding the fan and the top water hose that goes to radiator. I am trying to install fan but the center of the motor on the fan is rubbing on the hose. Does anybody know if that affects the fan. Will it get to hot were it will not work properly? And because I am putting 21 fans there is no moving to the side. Thanks

You will likely rub a hole in the hose. It won't happen fast but it will happen.

After looking at the picture I changed my opinion. You will rub through the hose in no time. You need to lower the fan so the motor doesn't hit the hose or modify the hose outlet. I have almost the same set up and the fan motor clears.

Why can't we post pics from our computer like we used to???????????

What kind of radiator are you using?? Also I think one of the issues is that my motor was not mounted far back enough.

I'm using a custom built radiator from the local radiator shop. Not as nice as yours (it's not aluminum). It is thick though. I can send you a picture if you want. I don't know how to post pictures. We use to be able to upload pictures from our computer but that feature is gone now. How did you mount the motor?

I got my motor mounts from TSR back in maybe yr. 2000. I just installed the motor with those and that is were the motor sat. I dont know what other thing I can do. I even had the top water outlet cut so the hose could be closer to motor and give me more room but it still hits. I am going to cut some of the front of the car and see what happens. You can email me pics to my email adrres [email protected]

Take a look at Sebastian Hills car. He did the same thing as you and I basically copied his install because I liked the way he did it. I just had to make all my own parts Mario from TSR wasn't making them anymore. I made my own oilpan so I didn't have to reverse the crossmember like many do. I sent the pics.

Outside question "where are the picture hosting sites?". I want to get set up so I can post pictures like others do.

ok, so mine isnt quite that bad but here is what id probably do.....first, remove that water inlet tube from the engine and cut the end off. angle it upward slightly and have it re-welded. then (if you havent already), cut into the front frame (panel where hood latches) about an inch or three (whatever works) and move the radiator forward. finally, get a pre-bent (angle-formed) lower radiator hose. hopefully that will give you clearance. another route is to get the water inlet from a z24 style motor (80's nissan trucks) which is much shorter than the ka inlet. personally, i did both and ended up using the early model water inlet. let me know how it goes. hope this helps...at least a little

not quite sure what u mean by 'are u guys running' did u mean what are u guys running...in terms of exhaust? well, if so I am running 3 inch all the way out. i modified my rear crossmember to fit the exhaust. put a 4in tube in the xhaust hole. i could help u do yours if you want, unless you are just gonna buy one. or better yet, i could charge you to do yours(lol)! but if you just want help, thats free, i guess. i have 3in downpipe too, by the way. got any pics of the car, engine bay??? post'em!

Yes I meant Any Turbo set up guys. Ok At this point I left the stock exhaust pipe so I can run the car. I only have a 2 1/4" dia pipe right now. I already have a modified crossmember but I dont remember what size hole is in it. So would it be best to run a 3" exhaust. Also I just found out that my ECU that was modified by Jim Wolf Technology is only set up to run with the stock set-up. I was told I need to take back to JWT to be upgraded to run the bigger injectors & turbo. So I called and yes they said to bring in the computer to be modified. What computer set up are you running?? So at this point I am bummed that I cant drive it because I dont want to mess things up. I will try to post pics. Here are some pics of my car and engine set up.That engine pic was taken on Tuesday. By the way were are you located at? Do you have ashop or do you work on your car at home? Were did you get the exhaust done at? Here's my # 818-391-4438. I live next to Downey Ca.Do you have any pics of your set up? Thanks for responding
