The civil war was fought to preserve the union, not necessarily to "free the slaves". The split that jeopradized it was based on the slavery question.

I never said the civil war was fought to free the slaves....but soldiers died setting them free, it was part of the objective (read any history book on it) It doesn't have to be the whole reason in order to make it a valid point.

Obama has been tied in with your "high school rebels" for over 20 years. He is part of a bad crowd, but not bad like the T-Birds, bad like Alquida. Millions donated to his campaign traced to the middle east, his visit to the middle east a few months ago did not include visiting troops, his involvement with terror group organizers, his polished time in the senate voting present every vote to keep from having any blame of yay or nay votes (i believe he was picked to run a long time ago), his denial of his own church (of over 20 years) after it became a burden on his campaign.....

This man is bad news for this country, and socialist is an understatement - i read someone said it was an over statement.

Its one thing to actually be stupid. Its a whole different ballgame to act ignorant for the sake of trying to slander a political opponent. If laws were meant to be guidelines they would be called guidelines. If guidelines were meant to be called laws, they would be called laws.

Your so concerned with him 'technically' breaking a guideline? lets see you get up on Bush for signing the flag. Thats a minor little technicality to you fool.

Christ Aud...again with world net daily. You call us koolaid drinkers? Do you maybe want to come up with a not quite so biased source for that? You slam telco anytime he posts something from NBC because they are biased. And you post this garbage.

Both of you are frankly pathetic. Can you try and have maybe a modicum of class. Your losing on issues but the ease with which you abandon all discussion of them really shows your true character. Your a group of people grasping at straws as your failed ideas and failed politics get left in the dust. Eventually you'll come to terms with it, but a mild suggestion: until you do just go away because your really only making being a fool.

Issues pwned!

Thats the closest thing in your post to addressing the issue.

Yea, find where you directly answered my questions in your rambling angry post.
skylndrftr wrote: I then proceeded to make fun of you for being at Obama. so I am . To be fair, you only actually asked one question and it was rhetorical.

480sx wrote:You really cant see anything else wrong with his actions? Your really defending that with the argument that he didnt technically break the guidelines soo.. Its all good?

Neither of my questions were rhetorical bub. Also, learn to count please.

Roll your eyes all you want to. Your not making any points or gaining any support, just making an *** out of yourself. Or come up with something other than retarded babbling personal attacks that dont defend your position at all. The question, again, if you chose to be a man is simple.

Why is it irrelevant that a presidential candidate would not show a basic level of respect for our flag and national anthem?

I just finished two college courses in history, perhaps you need to crack a book.

The war was fought to bring the confederate states back into the union. The confederate states broke away based on the slavery issue, yes but the union did not war with them based on that issue. There were a lot of abolitionists on the union side including Lincoln but they would not have initiated military action based on that, John Brown yes. The Republican party was founded as a one-issue party, the issue, slavery. To suggest though that the soldiers were all dying to "free the slaves" or that the civil war "freed the slaves" is an elementary school cliche for a pop up book not for grown up discussion of history. The war was fought to bring the confederate states back into the union. All the high brow romantic things that it facilitated were afterthoughts.
