There are no "muscle cars" anymore they died out in the 70's with the first gas depression. if you want a muscle car your'e gonna be spending time and money either way can we say..REH-STOH-RAY-SHUN....I have a 67 shelby fastback a true muscle car,al-beit in pieces one day It will be finished....one day but, first I must trick out the daily driver, the import. the one that gets more than 20mpg.otherwise I'd have no money a 429 cobra-jet engine would suck down gas faster than its 1/4 mile times! and it definately wont handle nearly as well as my 240 with 4 busted struts:)

2 words. Dodge Viper. Beats out great supras and skylines that everyone seems to salivate over. Or at the top tier there is always the Saleen s7. Id like to see anything beat that.

a corvette C5 is faster than a viper... as shown in several tests. I'd also like to see a dodge viper out manuver a skyline in ANY type of condition. Dont get me wrong, i love the viper, but if i had that kind of money i would stop off over at MotoRex before a dodge dealership.

how much does a saleen S7 cost? Ive never even seen one. I have seen a R33 GT-R though.

Charger, Fairlane, 68 GTO.. Why not? I'm too young to be able to afford the insurance.

first of all guys, saying that muscle cars are ugly is all a thing of opinion. and also seeing how good of condition the 60's muscle cars are in today is pretty impressive. i mean think about your 240sx in over 40 years from now. there probably won't be hardly any left. also not all domestics handle poorly, and most can be made to handle quite exceptionally. if you put the right suspension on a post '94 mustang and it will practically be running on rails. and you can make those faster than a 240sx for less money. so it all does come down to personal preference. i mean i love the way a 1990 240sx looks but the styling just isn't up to par with a corvette but i guess taht styling comes with a price. and the power to weight ratio thing, i mean really. saying that a muscle car with likec18dreams you said that a 200ho CRX could outrun a 4000-4500 pound mustang with 350HP. let me give you a little info that you might know already but just didn't think about it. SKYLINE=3900 pounds 295 BHPthat means in your CRX you could outrun a stock R-34 skyline. power to weight ratio might be important but i just wanna see you run against a skyline. ok that is pretty much what i got to say. oh yeah one more thing. i forgot who said it and i don't feel like looking for it. but someone said that a 2001 camaro and a 2001 mustang or something like that. and they said that both were rebuiling engines and the camaro was on it's second transmission. i mean good lord, how rough do they drive. domestics might not last as long as imports but they aren't that unreliableoh well, not trying to start anything just putting in my humble opinion. just give respect to the muscle guys.

The New Dodge Viper SRT-10 blows everything in it's price range($80000) away. Including Skylines (but not a souped up 240 ha ha!!). 505hp 12.2@119 mph. 1.04G STOCK

Not trying to be an ***, but technically the mustang and camero are pony cars. Granted some models put down awsome power, but wouldn't quite be a muscle car. Also as far as handling goes the mustang and firebirds were raced in transam so they must of had something going for them in the handling department. I think daily driving an old power car is insane, and should be more of a weekend warrior type deal. Just my thoughts.

A C5 is not faster than a Viper. Post up documentation if you're serious about that...

Viper won overall, and beat out the Skyline and Supra in the latest SCC USSC(SCC March'03 pg 74). To me, the USSC seems appropriate for bragging rights, as all cars are heavily modified, tuned for maximum performance, and then all are tested for driveability, emissions, and fuel economy to boot!!

Nearly all cars can be tuned to perform extremely well!(as is evidenced by the broad range of competitors in tests such as the USSC) Old muscle cars (and the SRT4) suffer from having platforms which don't necessarily spell all around performance. The 240sx is blessed with having a decent platform on which to build an all around performer, IMO.
