just turn the vert into your drift slut. No sense in F*-ing up a perfectly fine hatch 240. Hell in the vert you wouldn't have to fix the rust the pro way if you didnt want to, just weld some plates over the holes and bam, call it a drift car. Put some door bars/cage in there and you're stiff as a rock! You could actually make money from this deal if you decide to sell your hatch also, but you plan on cutting up a perfectly good car? Foolish.

whos idea mine? I like my idea.

And you guys have no idea, This verts floors are like falling out. Its not even safe to move, but the q panels and trunk and such are actually nice? And the tops in decent shape.

By seeing that hatch vert I'm almost positive i'm doing this now, I'm going to now start figuring out all the stuff i wanna do to make it a clean look.

honestly it's probably easier to strip the vert, put it on a rotisarie and then fix the floors and frame rail than it is to convert the hatch to a vert and actually make it look good. Good luck though, they'll be your cars and you'll either end up with 1 car that looks the way you want it to, or two totally screwed up cars. Either way not my problem or money lol

Gohan, I like you and I really have no problem with you.

But this idea is f*cking retarded.

Like "di-di-deee" getting wheeled around in a cart retarded.

If you arent even going to use the top from the vert and are thinking of leaving the hatch tails i dont even know why you want to cut the quarters and weld the vert ones on. If anything just cut the roof off the hatch, figure out how to make a trunk out of the old hatch plus some other metal, and throw a cage on it to help with body flex. But my vote is for selling the hatch and buying a decent vert like other people have said.

Fixing rust is easier than cutting up a body and trying to fix welds man. Trust me I've done it on my b13 sentra where it rusted out by the gas cap (common b13 problem. I had a s***ty welder so I didn't do it well but man, the QP starts to warp when u weld it on (it's thin a** sheet metal) so it never really comes out nicely. Check out my b13 build thread in the link in my sig. It came out lookin like a** and i ended up selling the car after fiberglassing a big (oh how to say) Bondo/fiberglass ramp where the weld was...

Bottom line, too much work and it sucked. Don't do it. I'll try not to keep bugging you if you actually go through with this but it's going to be more work than you think and your car won't be done by next drift season I'm almost positive lol. I don't want you to end up like someone I know who has a non running project car for over a year now..

Verts have structural bracing and larger plates under the car. If you cut your roof off your going to be taking out a lot of the cars support.

Dont.

Just buy a vert and PLEASE do not cut up the hatch...I swear to god, if you actually go ahead and cut up the car, I'll find you and kick you in the nuts.

If you actually do this, dont put your cage in after you cut the car up. Weld all of your supports and cage while it is together, then pull the roof off. The whole chassis will twist as soon as you cut through the car screwing everything up.
