they are already sold at those prices. hence the total in/out, and total[/quote]

Well played, and poorly played, lol.

I track everything maintenance related, down to air filter cleanings. I just stopped keeping track of the costs. When I did my agreed value policy, I added everything up, passed out, woke up, burnt the paper so my wife would never see it, then signed the paperwork.

who did you do stated value ins through? how much are your premiums/what is your stated value?

i'm going to do stated value as soon as my car as done. But i'm 23 and i'm in NY so i hope i dont get raped on the premiums

I do the same exact thing i have everything in a folder that i write dates on the top right hand corner of when i got it (that way i dont have to craw all over the sheet trying to find the date and can just glance at it and know...) I plan to make a spread sheet eventually so i can keep a running total on my mods and goodies.... (gota love the formula system on excel)

yeah i don't bother to track stuff like oil changes, because i end up changing it every 1500-2000 miles, so what's the point. jeff, i think tony has his stated value policy through grundy. im about to open one myself through them too. i think you have to be 25 though, and the other stated value insurers (haggerdy and american collector or something like that) charge outrageous premiums. grundy is cheap, as in $20 a month for a $17000 policy, 0 deductible, and 100/300/100 with similar on uninsured.

damn, i hope there isn't an age limitation. i'm really sick of that 25 BS. i have a clean driving record (no tickets or accidents) and i have had my license since i'm 17, i own 2 cars, and i pay out the a** for insurance. i will be really pissed if i have to get stuck insuring my '94 300zx TT as if it is a stock car, despite having a ton of money in it, just because i'm under 25.

just called haggerty, since there is in fact an age restriction on grundy (however the coverage with haggerty seems better for my purposes), and it costs me less to insure this car for 23k stated value with haggerty than it does for market value with geico... thats hilarious. looks like i'm going with haggerty

how does haggerty differ from geico in terms of what your purpose is?

well i was comparing haggerty to grundy. From what i've ready, grundy doesn't really want you driving your car unless its to/from a show/meet. If i wanted to take my car to work to show someone one time, i wouldn't be covered if i had an accident. or if i went on a date i wouldn't be covered.

compared to geico well, if my car were to be stolen or totaled, geico would give me the blue book value of a stock 1994 300zx twin turbo, minus a $500 deductible, so probably like 7-10k. so i'd be royally f*** for all my modifications. With haggerty, if my car gets totalled or stolen, i get 23k (Which is my stated value) i have 0 deductible on any damage. my only limitation is that i can't daily drive the car and it has to stay in a garage overnight. (i'm not daily driving the car, and it goes in the garage). also you HAVE to have a second car that is daily driven.

email response from grundy on a question regarding work/errands: "We insure for pleasure and hobby use. However, we do not want the vehicle driven to work or used for errands on a daily basis. If it is nice out and you want to take your vehicle to work, or stop and pick something up at the grocery store, that is fine. That is what the usage form is stating. We just do not want it driven everyday for those purposes. If you have any other questions please let me know. Thank you."

so, just to clarify, grundy states you can drive it for pleasure as much as you want, with limited work and errands. since the mileage is unlimited.. how can they really know how many times you drove it to work (should something happen coming to or from) ?? seems like a huge grey area!

true, but its kind of like how sometimes kids have their cars insured under their parents name so they can pay less. How would the insurance company really find out if the kid was just driving the dad's car the one time when he gets into an accident, or if he drove it all the time. They can't really, but still, its not really a good idea because if they were to find out you could get dropped.

Z31toZ32 covered my reply, you can use it for anything pleasure related, so unless it's a date from hell, I'd consider a date pleasure related ;) It's not a collector's car policy, or a historic car policy, restricted to meets and shows. You can never use the car as back-up transportation, so you either need to have:

a)rental car coverage on your DD policy
b)a third car
c)pay for rental car coverage out of pocket should your DD ever be incapacitated.

I have Grundy, insured for $32K, pay about $460 a year, but I'm also an "old fart" at 33. Does haggerty have any age restrictions?

nope, as long as you are over 18. However, you're gonna pay a lot more if you are 19 than if you are 24. My haggerty policy is 1204/year for 23k of coverage, 0 deductible. Geico was 1260/year for blue book value coverage, 500 deductible. Obviously both are a lot of money for car insurance, but i'm 23, so i get reamed no matter what. i was actually happy with the price.

What you mentioned about grundy is what kind of confuses me. They say you can use the car for pleasure, but my idea of pleasure is taking the car to work every once in a while on a nice day, or driving to someplace nice and taking the car there. If my 370z is in the shop or something, and i can't use my 300zx to go to work one day, i think thats kind of silly. Yes, i will mostly use the car for pleasure driving, however, i dont want to feel like i'm breaking the rules of my policy by going from A to B.

From what you say, Grundy seems like it makes a lot of sense if it is for your THIRD car. However, i'm sure my opinion my differ, and i'm probably trying to make myself feel better about the fact that i dont even qualify for Grundy anyway :bowrofl:

Yeah, it's kinda confusing, but that's how my agent described it to me. Every agent is different.
