Anything over 250F is dangerously high on Dino oil.
A strong group 4 or above oil can likely stand up to 300F but by that point something is overheating somewhere.
Hot spots always exist tho. Engines with excessive hot sports are known as "sludge monsters" ( some toyota and dodge engines especially).
In turbo engines in summer 260F is not as rare as many think.
A 5w-30 Dino oil is an absolute nono. :
A Dino oil only in a 20w-50 under these condtions and a syn in at least a 10w-40.
As for Dinos in this application they ahve to eb thick in order to sufficiently resist oxidation full syns like Mobil1, redline, amsoil and such can handle it in a 40 weight ( but 50 weight if a lot of racing street or autoX)
