idk why i started thinking about this again, but oh well. here is some info i got off a STi forum (in pan vs in pressurized spot).

http://www.iwsti.com/forums/ec....html

I came to a thought, though, of just putting the sensor in my drain plug? Buying an adapter like the one below and just mounting it there.

Sure, I think this would be more accurate, but I think you should still get the cooler.

I'm getting the parts to do mine how, its running me $300.00. It should be cheaper for you since I think your using a sandwich block and not an actual engine specific adapter.

5-7 foot of 10AN line (70 bucks)4 an fitting (80 bucks)Sandwich block (50)Thermal wrap (20)Oil Cooler (70-150)

Should see a 20 degree drop. I suggest about 15 rows for you with -10 fittings.

Hi...

thinking of using similar setup to Matt's ... see pic above

Thinking of using B&M Fan assisted cooler

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BMM-7 ... BMM-70297/

Mounting cooler in front of/beside ac radiator

Car is occasional daily that sees track time about 4 times a year.

Not sure if the fan setup is worth it of if a Setrab 625 would be better

heres my list:

CXRacing SS Braided -10AN lines (60)CXRacing 16 Row -10AN oil cooler (80)Greddy Thermostatic oil filter adapter (90)Blitz Oil Drain Plug Temperature Sensor adapter (15)Total of around $240 or so, which isn't bad..

i'll probably get flamed for using the CXRacing lines and cooler, but i've been running their FMIC, Radiator, and full exhaust (mani-back) and its all been great for me. I trust these people 100% on stuff like this, and the quality is probably no different than the Isis stuff.

Thanks for all the help guys (especially OutToWinPAHC).

I have had pretty good results with the greddy filter relocation as a place to install my oil temp and pressure sensors, but my oil never reads over 130 degrees. I think something must be blocking the sensor, I need to look into that. It might be best to just relocate it to the pan like you guys said- helpful thread!

A little off topic, but that cx intercooler is restricting compared to japanese manufacturers. I guess it depends on how much power and boost your putting down to really tell the difference though. That oil cooler might be too.

Hah I'm Ls series swapped. So instead of a sandwich block I went with an expensive Lingenfelter adapter that dont work with my GTO oil pan........ After trying to help you out too, not going cheap, I got screwed lol my little rant.

What would be better to use, A/N fittings, or push lock fittings?

I don't have evidence atm but i'm sure you look at the other parts they make, like headers, welds are horrible. It's ebay stuff, any name brand core is better than that. If anything find a used evo core or something.

I'll try to find some dyno sheets or something.

yea im switching to a B&M Cooler and making my own lines. Im basically following the "How-To" in the Tech Pages on how to make an oil cooler kit, except im not doing a relocation. Also, im putting the oil temp sensor in the oil drain plug using the Blitz adapter if i didn't mention that already.

I have AN -12 size push lock fittings. You can see them in the pic I posted on the first page. Haven't leaked a drop of oil from them, and I've been tracking the crap out of my car.

I believe they are the go-to fitting in the aerospace industry.

Maybe you can help me out really quick...I'm new to this whole, hose making deal. Doesn't look too hard to make, but there are so many options out there that can be confusing. But I'm thinking of going with these end fittings:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-220758/

Now choosing which hose is where i'm kinda lost. Are these the only type that is compatible with it? (looks like what you have)

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-220790/

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AER-FCN1015/

Is there a SS line that is compatible with the above fitting? I looked around Summit and can't seem to find it. (if it's even out there.)

(I have seen that "how to build your own oil cooler" thread on here, and it is very useful, but I wanted to change up the lines/fitting to save some $$)

SS lines are used with the compression AN connectors.

Gotcha.

Can I get your opinion on what would be the best thread sealer to use on the A/N connections?
