What is the weight of your oil.The difference in oil weight is a factor.

what is your idle speed set at, Ive run 10W30, 10W40, and 15W50 and my running temp idle oil pressure is always 20 psi, 40 psi seems really high for idle. 80 psi is normal for cold starts.

5W30 is a little thin for a turbo engine, I would suggest switching to a 10W30 or 10W40, they have a higher thermal capacity that will hold up better under the extreme heat caused by the turbocharger. I pulled this from the SR20DET FSM, it does not recomend 5W30 for temps above 59 F.

^yeah, I run 10w-30 now (colder months) and ran 10w-40 in the summer since it is hot, humid GA

the gauge was free. its in bar tho. one to seven bar.. electric. myn goes to seven stays there til motor warms then down to one bar.. does anyones pressure go up with rpm? sometimes pressure drops off and fluctuates...>?

You may be low on oil or having oil-pickup (read: starvation) issues.

Yes oil pressure increases and decreases with engine RPM.But oil pressure should not drop at random. If it is you have a problem

I don't understand your post in relation to the OP, but do you guys realize that this thread is 2 years old? LOL

EDIT: While the FSM (S14 SR20) has no cold PSI rating, it does state with the engine at normal operating temp, under no load, it should run more than 11 PSI at idle and b/t 46-57 PSI at 3,200 RPM.
