I spent the afternoon changing the oil in all three cars. A Jeep TJ, a 98 Mustang Gt and the 93 Q45.

I took me twice as long to do the Q than it did for either of the the other cars. In my opinion one should not need to bend like that to change an oil filter. I cannot get at it from the top at all and cannot get any leverage on it once I get a hand on it from the bottom. Then in the process of snaking it out past the pulleys belts, hoses, and what ever else is in the way I dumped all the oil out and made a huge mess. So, I started looking for oil filter relocation kits and came across this. http://tinyurl.com/23qtdv I like it cause it has pre-made stainless hoses and not the rubber hose and barbed fitting set up.any thoughts or recommendations?

Much easier on a lift from underneath after the under engine tray is removed. You get to inspect silicon filled bushings, rubber, shocks, steering rack fittings and mounts, brake lines, etc.

The kit looks pretty ok. Two things, How long are the hoses? I know mine are at least 4 feet long.(depends where you mount it) Also how much pressure can they hold? Mine can handle like 1200 psi, way over kill but better safe than siezed!

I too was a fool and use to change mine from under. I got sick of 10 mm bolts breaking, oil leaking on my ps pump etc. I don't know about others but I can see my rack WITHOUT removing anything! The only thing my under pan blocked was the oil that use to drip off of my motor from the filter.

Pick of mine from top

Most leaks I have seen are influenced by gravity and thus usually visible on the bottom of the offending seal first. Very difficult to see chocks and tension ord leaks from above either, at least for me.

Why would I look for leaks under my hood? Once you lift your car upto see under it there is no need to remove the under pan if all you are doing is inspecting.

This is very helpful. I was just thinking of spending $6000-$10,000 on a lift so that I can change my oil.

Thanks for the tip!!
