eh it's just another hotbutton topic that'll fade within the week, I (and probably most other people) could honestly give a s*** what's on a monument in hicktown, Alabama. (By the way, it doesn't just have the 10 commandments on it, it's got quotes from many other - much more relevant - documents as well.)

How about we focus our energy on something that really matters, like the state of the economy, the validity of the war, or the trustworthyness of those in office? Arugh these little things are fun to argue about: monuments in courts, Arnold in the elections... but they all distract us from the REAL issues that are actually going to have an impact on our country.

Screw that. We start talking about war and economy, I would end up getting shot.

But the Govenator is an excelent topic to ****** about. If he loses, he can always say, "I'll be back, in four years."

Washington and the founding fathers believed in God. They founded the country as one nation under God.

My 2 cents

There are no more relevant words than those found in the Ten Commandments. Those words form the basis of living an honorable, truthful, and respectful life.

Maybe instead of arguing about whether it should be torn down, we should invest our time in living up to the standard found in the ten commandments.

So our nation being founded on the principles of a christian nation is shiat?

I still think people are not understanding here the reasoning for the commandments in court house our laws are based off the 10 commandments weather you believe it or not. and as one has said that the 10 commandments are laws to live a good life so to speak.

so put the 10 commandments into law. try that on for size. they're NOT policy, they're an ideal: an ideal held by a large (but NOT all) portion of this country. there is no reason why a commandment against blasphemy - which has no bearing on modern justice at all - should be inscripted within a courthouse. Keep the relevant ones if you want, but some of those commandments are SPECIFIC references to a PARTICULAR FAITH: and shouldnt be displayed by the goverment like that.

If you walked into this court house and saw the 10 commandments would you be offended and if so why?

nah I dont get offended like that too easially, but I can see how someone might feel a little uncomfterable if they are coming from a different background.

Then again I dont know, we should focus on preferences within policy or judgments, not artistic style... it just seems like if a court has this monument in it's lobby- then it points to an equal bias in the judges' decisions. It's probably not true, but it's a valid concern, especially in Alabama ;)

you also have to look where the statue is in ALABAMA and that is in the Bible Belt where there is a church on every other block. I don't see anything wrong with it at all hell justice is blind or at least it is suppose to be but regardless a person is not going to get a fair trial if the jury is 12 white christians and the defendant is a black muslem.....................

I think people are just making excuses to ****ing ***** about something hell MS still has the confederate flag in our state flag it tried to get changed a few years back and the people of the state voted and said **** you to changing the flag and its not going to get changed anytime soon. Not to mention olemiss lost there mascot colonel reb and lost the right to wave the rebel flag at games.

I know that has nothing to do with religion but look at Nascar it is a southern sport and they still have a prayer before each race and show the prayer on TV I have not once heard anyone complain yet about that

well, no matter how hard we try to remain impartial, I dont think our country is ever going to become completely devoid of religion (and thus, our roots?)-- and even if we did, wouldnt we be showing a "preference" for atheism? We dont have time to worry about small things like this... like I said, focus your energy on something more important!!

When we first colonized the U.S. / America, the settlers were VERY religious. That's the reason they got the he!! outa dodge in the first place. I personally strongly agree with some religion associated with the government, because, who's to decide what's right and wrong? The government! We vote, but if they don't have at lease SOME set values and morals, well, then we're all screwed. It also established "hope" back in the day. The thought of new opportunities and what not. But who would have wanted to come to a hedonistic country? And im sounding like the history chanel right now so im just going to go away. <<Tom>>

Also, I have nothing against ANY religions. What im trying to say is hard to explain. What i can't stand is people of a different religion bashing the very government that protects thier right to have their prefered beliefs. This country was founded on a set of moral values, good ones at that. If you don't like the way the govt. protects your rights, good luck finding another country that does a better job. This is a pretty touchy subject and im kind of a hiporcit when it comes to things like this. I know if there was a buhda outside every court house i sure as hell wouldnt live here. Think of the govt. as a body, a person, with his or her own beliefs that protects others beliefs as WELL AS IT'S OWN! I guess that's kind of the point im trying to make. We won't prosecute you for your beliefs so don't prosecute the govt. for it's beliefs! HA! i did it.
