Thanks. Work will kick back into high gear as soon as I get the car back.

This season, I will only be doing local regional events, but if all goes well, I hope to make it down to the MO area for 100 acre wood rally.

Well, I just got word from the cage builder. He is 9/10s finished, and is mainly only waiting on a scrutineer to inspect and sign off. I will be picking the car up this Sunday.

Side update**

Cale got me some yellow H4 headlights for the race car as a Christmas present. I figured I would put them on my daily S13 so I could get an idea how the beam pattern laid out. Its ok, but Cale also has an HID kit on the way for them, so that should make up for any shortcomings

When paired with 4 high power auxiliary off road lights, I should be set.

This car will have lots of things cops dislike. Yellow lights, straight through exhaust, and giant number stickers, just to name a few.

I will be adding a cage tube behind the X brace once I have seat height and position figured out.

** UPDATE **

The car is BACK.

Loading it up at Doug's

Ready for straps. Man does that look mean.

Home sweet home.

Got the new engine swapped in, his name is Frank.

Group photo of everyone who helped me move. A big thanks to Cale, Chris, Chris, and Ryan.

Oh yah, and frank too.

On to the pictures you guys really want to see.

The roof support.

Door bar with vertical support.

Where front tower support, door bars, front hoop, and vertical support meet.

And the X brace with gussets, and harness bar.

I have a heck of a lot of work ahead of me, but its good to have her home.

Whats next? Strut tower reinforcement, followed by some more stitch welding, folowed by priming and painting the interior.

What size do you have?

I dont really need it, I think it would just lead to me getting carried away. I would just end up cutting holes in everything, just so I could dimple them.

i have 1 inch and i used it only for gussett plates connecting the cage to the body around the roof area and a/b-pillars. but you can do whatever you want.

Dude, Ian dont turn down free use of cool stuff, that is totally against your mantra. Tonight, we should fab a shift knob.

Down to business.

I just have a little bit of fabrication left before I can clean, and prime/paint the cage and interior.

Finished the stitch welding on the drivers rear tower.

Then I moved on to cutting out the reinforcement plates for the rear strut towers. I would like to avoid punching struts through my towers, so Im beefing them up, a lot.

Drilled the holes for the strut mounts.

Got the large centre opening cut out. Hole saws FTW.

Test fitting.

I welded the centre first.

Then I began heating, and hammering the edge down, to meet the contour of the tower.

Then I followed along with the welder. Its not pretty, but its strong.

For those of you who have seen the rear towers, you with know, that the actual top sticks above the plate that attaches it to the tub. I did not contour to this, I think bridging the gap should help shore everything up.

And the same deal on the other side.

While I was working on the rears, Cale worked out one of the fronts.

The front towers have a lot of shape to them, so Im really going to have to work them.

Started with the centre again. Then I started working the side nearest the cage support down.

With one side tied down, I decided to call it a night.

I hope to get the rest of the towers done tomorrow.

Thanks.

I have a little stack of those metal scraps. For a while I ran out, they were tacked all over the body, but I have most of them cleaned up now.

Finished up the second whole.

Thats pretty much my whole update for tonight.

Just one little teaser before I go. My suspension stuff is finally all here. Time to reinvent the wheel.

Look at them damper pistons. Your drift coils got nothing on these bad boys.

I will leave you guys with that. Hopefully I will have pictures of the chassis going to Davenport Racing tomorrow.
What kind of dampers did you used for the rear?? ( Bilstiens Z32 OEM Style)???
