Hi Everyone -

So...here we go again!

In the last week we have been to SEMA, where we made some new friends and solidified some relationships with exisiting friends, and we also locked in Alamo Autosports as our primary sponsor for the third year in a row. We feel very fortunate to get the help we do from Alamo. Brice and his team are top shelf and we couldn't do it without them.

So, here's the plan:

We'll be doing some testing with the turbo. It's still going to be in the back seat. It works well there. We'll mainly be trying out a couple different intercoolers and also playing with the turbine housing.

The goal is to show up at Pikes Peak with 525 to 600hp. We had 430 this year, and that along with a partially set up suspension got us our fastest time yet, which was 13:19 and change.

We expect to drop our time into the 11's this year and in 2012 we fully expect to make a serious run at the Time Attack Record (Set by Jeff Zwart in a Porsche GT3 Cup car) of 11:31.

Other than that the modifications will be limited to fitting a diffuser and finally spending some time dialing in the incredible MOTON suspension system. A feat that will be complicated by the fact that I am moving to California next month so I'll have to fly back to Texas to test. We'll work it out!

Thank you Greg and Becky, and everyone here at NICOclub.com for your support. I sincerely appreciate it and I'm really looking forward to getting you guys a first place trophy from Pikes Peak.

Yay! Its back! I hope I can help cover some of the entry fee again.

On another note, be careful trailering it back from the dyno.

Yes, we will definitely be more careful this year! The car is actually going to live at Alamo, since I'm moving to California. So, the distance from the dyno to it's parking spot should hold few perils.

We would love to have you back on the car this year. Let me know what you can contribute and I'll have a good set of vinyl decals made up for you this year. The more you can help, the bigger your decals will be! Whatever you can do, you must know I really appreciate the help.

Thanks!

So, we are here in Orlando this week and weekend for PRI (for those of you who don't know, PRI is basically SEMA, but just for race parts). Pretty stoked to see who's got what new go fast goodies this year. Should be a good time. Exhausting day of Travel, though, from the west coast. Just getting settled in our new place in Benicia before coming out.
Really hope we can round up more good contacts and potential sponsors for Pikes Peak. I'm still behind on my follow ups from SEMA, but the move to CA took most of my time for the past month.

More updates to come!

We had a really great time here at PRI. Made some good contacts and might be getting set up as a dealer for a few really cool products.

We will be testing at harris hill outside austin on January 15th. Also, Brice at Alamo will be making a few tweaks to the setup and if one of our deals goes through, look for a writeup about a fuel injector change.

A few other things are in the works including a possible appearance in one of my favorite publications. Cross your fingers for us!

This is shaping up to be a pretty exciting year!

Stay tuned!

Hi Tony. Thanks for the offer. We still need tires! That seems to still be our achillies heel. If we could just lock in a few sets of quality tires, the rest would fall into place.

I'm gonna talk to Mark and SCR early this year. See if I can't pull something out of a magic hat (or my a**) to get us some more Hoosiers for race day. What size do you need again? I can keep a close eye out for some and have Mark and the guys keep an eye out too.

Besides that... I'm taking the full week off of work this year so I can actually get some damn sleep! See ya again this year man! (P.S. *cough cough* it'd be super sweet of you to get me a shirt that says "crew chief" old man ;) *cough*)

Thanks Anthony. We might even be getting a few of the guys from Texas coming up this year. I think Brice and Mike from Alamo are planning to make the trip.
I have new T-shirts already made up...I thought you saw them already...maybe not:

The top portion is the same for everyone, but this one is just for you.

For anyone interested, this shirt (minus the Anthony part) will be for sale soon. A great Christmas gift that will help us pay our way to Pikes Peak in 2011. Available in white only (cuz we can't afford the color shirts).

More news soon.

What exactly are you looking for tire make and size?

Last year for race day we used Hoosier Radial Wets 245/40/17 Front and 275/40/17 Rear. For the most part, many racers chose tires similar to this (First Place in Time Attack 2WD was on a set of Pirelli Wets).

If I remember correctly, Ken liked the Hoosiers quite well on race day.

As far as practice days, Ken is not picky. He just wants some tires to get through practice and get some actual seat time on the course. Brand is not important per se, so long as they aren't gonna get him killed in the dirt section.

I'm sure he'll have a better response for you though.

The radial wets in just about any brand did work well up there. The course isn't long enough to overheat a wet tire and they do really well in the dirt section. New this year, though, we have pavement for the last 6 miles, where last year it was split by the top dirt section.
I'm thinking we might like to go with a cut slick in a relatively soft compound. I'd love to get my hands on several sets of 75% or better scrubs. I could definitely make them work.
Though, if someone decided to hand me a few sets of Nitto NT01 or something similar to that, I'd make em go fast.

Last year we were on a set of all season street tires for the three days of practice, so I never got a chance to get a sense of where the car was before race day. When we did put on the Hoosiers on race day I had no idea what I was in for. It took the first mile to get a feel for what I was going to have and we lost some time as a result.

For sizes, we run 245/45-17 on the front and 275/40-17 on the rear.

Thanks,
Ken

Hi Everyone!

I just want to take a minute to Thank Johannes Speckheuer (breadbox here on NICOclub) and Via Creativa Gallery (viacreativagallery.com) for their generous contribution to our effort this year. Johannes and his company also helped us with our entry fee in 2010 and we are sincerely happy to have them back. Probably late January to mid February we will have the new Via Creativa stickers on the car and we'll post up some photos of their placement as soon as that happens.

I encourage all of you to please take a minute to peruse their website or give them a call if you're looking for a truly unique gift for someone special.

PLEASE support the people who take the time to support us. http://www.viacreativagallery.com

THANK YOU!

One more quick news item:

We have just finished up a deal with Fuel Injector Clinic so we'll be switching to their hi-impedence top feed injector for the 2011 race. We will also be a dealer for their fine products and look forward to speaking to any of you that are thinking about a fuel system upgrade.

20+ years ago I helped Cigarette racing (offshore power boats) develop their fuel systems, as well as fuel systems for several prominent drag racing teams, so I kind of feel like I'm coming home! :)

Brice at Alamo will be doing some tests with the injectors and the swap from our current 1200cc lo-impedence injector setup. We expect to have the new injectors on the car before our January 15th test at Harris Hill outside Austin. Look for a complete write up and results from the swap coming very soon!

Bye!
