OEM Nissan sunroof wind deflector

I bought an OEM Nissan Rogue sunroof wind deflector for my 2010 model from CL.
I just noticed that the rubber lip on the corner side has a notch. I searched the web for images and I found that some have the notch and some doesn't.

Is that notch should really be there? Anybody here have the OEM deflector?
I installed it without any problem but the notch bothers me so I use a bit of a silicone sealant to cover it. It was ok at first then after a few weeks there's a whistling sound coming from the deflector. I took the sealant off and the whistling is still there. The notch looks legit so it's probably by design but taking off the sealant didn't make the whistling sound go.

the notch is there to avoid water build up. I noticed it too when I bought 1 last year for 2011...then I noticed that the water passes thru the notch when I wash the car.

Anyways, so that notch is to prevent water build up. I guess that's not the whistling that I had when I first installed it. Ok, I'll have to find where the sound is coming from then. I'll leave that notch alone. Thanks NikNok!
