Ya get what ya pay for. Although... I paid a crap load for a GReddy. The entire time I owned it I had no problems, but I sold it because of hearing about 15 or 20 people who had the welds crack. Apparently they have since fixed the problem, but for the money I'd say Hotshot is a better choice.

i would never buy anything performance related (especially a header) from OBX. Let alone for $200 that's just asking for trouble

You can find those OBX headers on ebay for 120 bucks. If you put a decent coating on it, or dont care about rust its not a bad buy. Of course it wont give you as much performance gain as a hotshot, but the price is a fraction of hotshot. Im sure it would fit ok, and if a weld cracks you can go to a muffler shop and have them fix it and strengthen them all for around 75-100 bucks.

Did Hotshot fix their problems with fitiment and weld cracking issues for their Headers? I don't know whether or not to trust the 3rd gen header design...

Well I dont have either but after reading a lot of opinions. I've come to the conclusion that the OBX is a straight cop off of the hotshot except its made with cheaper metal. Which means they might get a little hotter, and rust but you can coat them and they wont rust. Might cost you 1 or 2 hp at the fly! So for the extra $200 I decided to go with OBX just ordered today, I'll tell you what I think about them as soon as I get them in. Hopefully they dont crack to easily.:(

This maybe a crazy question, but when a header cracks, where do they crack typically?

no proof of hotshot giving any more hp's and i own a pacesetter, its been over a year now and no problems at all, they are ugly ill give people that, but if you dont care about that they are like 120 bucks, If hotshot does give more power which has not been proven it will be 1 or 2 hps big deal! they should have a exhaust tests for 240 like they do with dirt bikes, that would make eveyone shut up.

i have had the obx header for a few months now and its fine. it does kinda turn a different color after a while but if u dont care about looks then its fine. installation was ok, it was easy especialy having a friend underneath the car helping me out. i still have stock exhaust so its not that loud from the back of the car but you can notice the engine sound louder.

only thing is the little bracket that holds the cat up doesnt fit right u might have to fab it a little or just scrap it. oh and you might want a new cat gasket, mine was like a peice of paper lol

I just bought one, and did a test fit on the head and everything lines up just fine. Also, if i all ready have catback exhaust, will this make it louder?

i bought an obx header for my s13, i'm currently having issues trying to get my old manifold off... but from the looks of it the obx one looks really good. the only thingthat's sketch is the welds. the welds that are on the bracket that goes to the head look good but the other ones are okay, i think they'll hold for about 6 months or so, chicago winters suck so i'll see how it goes in spring, might have to get them rewelded

I have an OBX header on my S13 with a BRM exhaust it performs excellent and the sound is great! As far as fitment it was fairly easy install if you are using a CAT u might wanna double up your gasket between the header/CAT worked out great for me since mine was a lil warped...people always have horror storys about ANY product..but my experience is that most have had good luck with this header...im guessing alot depends on the type of use and your environment. I would reccomend it for general use, day to day driving and of course the occasional race

DOOM out.

hey doom: i have the same setup as you, but i have yet to install it, where did you get the bolts for the cat to connect to the header because i didn't get any with my obx unit.?

what exactly does it sound like and what piping do you have on your brm?

I believe the hardware came with my BRM exhaust...not real sure though. i got the 2.5" aluminized with the 22" resonator thing sounds like a beast. You'll be happy with it when u get it bolted up. good luck!

did you have any trouble installing the o2 sensor on your header? i just spent a good 10 hours trying to get off my old one and i just put the obx unit on.

the gaskets lined up and i plugged the aiv bung, but i tried to put my o2 sensor on after i installed the unit but it won't go on. it hits the firewall and won't even go into the bung? is this the right bung or is the other that i plugged the right one?

i'm going to sleep, my body hurts....please help!!

How are the welds on the obx header, are they clean or all ugly and bumpy?
