That's pretty much spot on.

In fact, from now on all Jesda political posts are signed by me.

I don't have time nor inclination to type walls of text in response to car guys who think a new POTUS with old hardware behind the scenes has relevance, and Jesda pretty much hits the nail on the head with a couple lines of useful thought.

Good Job J. 9/10 would read again.

Noone can deny, its a good sign that he's getting started early trying to stimulate the economy. Its more than Bush admin has done. I think smockers83 is right about Detroit. If it goes under, you can pretty much say "hello depression". We're talkin another 270+ billion in economic onslaught. Have you heard about the roads infrastructure agenda they brought up today?

The campaign he proposed will invest in our commute infrastructure. this creates jobs which puts money in significant numbers of peoples pockets . it effectively stimulates the economy by creating sustainable unemployment relief. not some washed over stimulus packet that sprinkles blood over a failing heart (our economy). On a sidenote i think I see where theyre going with this; an improvement in transportational framework would ecourage demand for cars. And so on....

This isnt rocket science; a similar "new deal" invested in jobs etc in the 1930's by Roosevelt which jump-started the economy. I like what he's proposing who knows if it works again some 80years later.

He's not President yet....

Pelosi already has a auto-bailout in the works along with another stimulus package and a credit bailout and a couple of other things in the works. I expect another 700B+ in bailouts at the least before they are done. Hope the Chinese can afford to loan us more

The New Deal prolonged the depression. Previous economic crises occurred in years past with the same level of severity, but all were very brief.

It isn't a group of economists from Central Idaho Farming College thinking this either. These are respected scholars making a legitimate case.

The New Deal tripled and prolonged unemployment, literally starved Americans, and crippled the recoveries of businesses. It left behind a legacy of social security, which has become a costly pyramid scheme, and set a precedent of the United States having a big, sloppy federal government. FDR was one of the worst monsters this country has ever endured.

With the intent on having more Americans rely on Gov services I expect this to rage on for a while too. I'm looking for the right investments so I can at least make back what the Gov will probably be taking from me.

Only time will tell.

+1.

I hate how FDR gets credit for pulling us out of the depression. It is my understanding that war pulled us out.

I don't know if youre agenda is to discredit everyone on the forum or what but that doesnt bother me.....

i rolled my eyes cause im not convinced it will work yet.

The new deal was arguable by many. Im not gonna waste my breath on that part everybody here knows how to read (hopefully lol). But i will say this; It did some good too at the time and i agree it left some big scabs on americas economy. Plus we were in a much worst situation when it was rolled out. I mentioned it in relation to Baracks proposal. We will have to see what happens.

I was going to build up some credit for my new company but im thinking i should wait and see how things go now.

This sucks!!!!

Also, I will never understand how Palin's qualifications for VP were more of an issue, than Obama's qualifications for the Office of the PRESIDENT. Unqualified individuals have made great Presidents in our countries past, you just better hope President-Elect Obama is among those great individuals. Making good decisions is what qualifies you as a great President, not how well you address the public. Only time will tell in this matter.
hpw is anything i said racist or sexist? you want to know about my how guilty i feel? listen to "guilty of being white" by minor threat some time. Did i dig on McCain for being a weirdo some times? yes. How is that racist and sexist? Im glad to hear I didnt vote for obama bc i agreed with his politics and ideas and voted for him to ensure some reverse racism. Funny story: Obama and McCains acquired the experience needed to become president IN THE SAME PLACE DOING THE SAME JOB! to call one unqualified is to call the other the same. (and to cut you off before you foam at the mouth again I didnt say McCain was unqualified, just that crashing an expensive airplane and living in a crappy jungle DIDN"T) also I wouldnt have such a sour taste in my mouth from palin if %95 of the "support" that was shown for her was just talking about her tits or that she was a milf. ppl fail to make the connection to her hotness and being a good leader of the free world. If you can, then by all means do and i will vote for the hot candidate next time. (not that i didnt, barack is a shmexy dude in those suits)

I don't think it was necessarily FDR's New Deal that prolonged the Depression. I don't know all that much about it since the last time I studied it was back in high school. But what did prolong the Depression was when the Depression hit, the US and other industrial countries put up huge tariffs in order to protect domestic industries. This essentially ground world trade to a halt as existing markets quickly evaporated due to these policies put in place. If that was because of New Deal legislation, then yes, the New Deal prolonged the Depression for the US and the world. If these policies were enacted under laws independent of the New Deal however, the New Deal did not prolong the Depression. The fact that he signed these policies puts him at fault nonetheless, however nothing of the Depression's scope had happened before, so it was all in emotion and really didn't take the consequences into consideration, but the consequences weren't readily known because there was no history to base it upon because lets be honest, people don't like economists, they want to base stuff on history. You also have to take into context the politics of America in those days in which we didn't want to deal with the world like we do today.

yeah i wish more people would be like you and form their own views based on their education and not brainwash folks. my great grandmother is still alive (85 years old) and was alive during the depression. thats more proof than any history book of what actually happened (not that history books arent informative).

Jesda seems to be very well versed and educated......

But i think in 60-80 years when Barack Obama is in the history books, people will associate his presidency with this recession, though we all know that Barack had nothing to do with our current ressession. If we're going to blame a president we should blame the president who brought us into the recession/depression. Not the person trying to clean up the mess....

these right-wing business practices (unfair/poor lending blah blah blah) have been going on for over a decade (enron, leiman etc). Im not completely against repub. but there needs to be some regulation. and everyones complaining about paying taxes, YOU just gave 40billion of YOUR tax dollars to upper-class america which was said to be spent on vacations and stuff.

Am I the only one disappointed in this?

where does it stop

Bah, at any rate Bush is considering a bailout for GM/Ford ive read. I guess im done wyning for now....

Wow, right-wing business practices? Are you kidding me? Check up your facts. I assume the failure of proper use of bailout money is all on the Republicans hands even though they voted it down the first time and it barely passed the 2nd?

Bush got the blame for the 2001 recession he inherited via Clinton so why should Obama not get the same treatment? Wait, I already know the answer.

Welcome to 8 years ago and get ready for 4 years of the same treatment that Republicans received. What happens under an Obama Administration will always be his fault as he will be the President at the time. In 70 days I can blame every ill of society directly on his shoulders.

Uh...... wow dude youre really upset

Go back and read my post we're speaking the same language.

When i mentioned right-winged i was referring to the business practices of some fortune 500's. When you look at the juxtaposition of the economy and job loss you will find that they are a direct result of poor business practices. now the bush admin is not the sole blame of this. the bailout itself i dont disagree with, however i do find it disturbing that OUR (meaning all of us) tax dollars went in part toward spas and parties for fortune 500 employees, execs etc. Do you not find this disturbing?

And as far as whining; in Gods eyes im still a child so sometimes i do whine.
